Too often, people forget that dogs are living, feeling beings—not disposable items to be used and then discarded. Sadly, this cruel mindset is especially common among irresponsible breeders.
These people see dogs only as a way to make money, forcing them to produce litter after litter. When the dogs can no longer breed, they are heartlessly abandoned, left on streets, in trash sites… Or worse, without the slightest thought of the suffering they’ll endure.
One such heartbreaking case recently unfolded in Compton, California. Thankfully, rescuers learned of it just in time.
Terrified And Alone

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, received a distressing call from her colleague Arturo about a dog cruelly dumped on one of Compton’s busiest streets.
When they arrived, their fears were confirmed—the abandoned pup was a nursing mom, but her puppies were nowhere in sight. They quickly realized she had likely been used by a breeder for her puppies and then discarded once she was no longer “useful.”
“On the busiest street in Compton. Hiding in bushes. Dumped after having her puppies.
She would stick her head out of the bushes,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.

Instead of feeding her puppies, the mother dog now crouched in fear inside a bush, doing her best to hide from the world. She was terrified of everything around her, paralyzed by fear and uncertainty.
But Hall came prepared with patience and kindness.
Speaking softly, she tried to comfort the frightened mom, hoping her voice alone would offer some reassurance.
Suzette and Arturo stayed close, watching carefully as cars sped by. The poor dog already had an injured leg and was lying dangerously close to the street. Every passing moment put her at risk.
But fortune was on her side. She didn’t have to wait long for help.
Out Of Danger

Suzette knew there was no time to waste. She carefully set up a humane trap filled with food right next to the bushes.
Within minutes, the hungry mom followed her instincts and walked straight in. Her need for food outweighed her fear.
“Arturo and I set my trap, and she was so hungry she didn’t hesitate one bit. She literally walked straight into it,” Hall recalled.

At last, she was safe. After such cruelty, this brave mother was finally protected and cared for. Suzette quickly transported her to a pet hospital, where she could receive medical treatment for her leg and the overall care she desperately needed.
“A beautiful lab, a beautiful girl was forever safe. We think her leg is broken but her spirit will be healed in no time,” Hall wrote.
Once she is fully healed, this sweet mom will be ready for adoption. Hopefully, she will finally find the loving home she has always deserved.
Because this time, she deserves people who will cherish her for life—not abandon her when she needs them most.
