Rescue Dog From Colorado Allowed On Bed For The First Time And Her Reaction Brings Viewers To Tears

A Bernese mountain dog named Oakley went through a lot in her life.

In the past, she didn’t have a loving home where she could enjoy her life to the fullest. Heartbreakingly, she was a puppy mill mama and her owner used her to gain profit.

Her situation got worse when she lost her most recent litter. The wonderful pup was almost euthanized but luckily, a rescue stepped in and took her under their care.

Oakley got a second chance at life and remained at the rescue. She was timid, frightened, and in need of love.

Two years after being rescued, the wonderful dog found her forever mama and that’s when her life started to change for the better.

Upon moving into her new Colorado home with her mom, Lindsay, Oakley needed some time to get used to her new life.

Her mom showered her with love and tried to make her feel relaxed. Before long, Oakley showed her sweet character and began letting her guard down.

Due to her difficult life, the doggo is a little shy when meeting new people, but once she gets to know someone, her trust starts to shine through.

Her mom’s sister, Steph, shared footage of Oakley as Lindsay encouraged her to climb on her bed.

“When your rescue dog has never been on a bed before,” reads the caption over the video.

Oakley was hesitant to get on the bed, so her mom lifted her front paws, trying to let her know that it was alright. The expression on Oakley’s face reflected her confusion.

Once Lindsay managed to convince the dog to stand on the bed, she gave her a sweet hug, reassuring her that it was okay.

The Viewers’ Response

The viewers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts.

“She is so scared. She may have been punished by the previous owner for it. Spoil that sweet baby rotten, she deserves it,” one user commented.

Another viewer had a different opinion: “A rescue that has no inclination to get on the bed or couch … BONUS! Sorry, I’m not with you on this one, especially with her size. Why ruin a good thing. She can be loved on off the bed and couch. Also, jumping down, unnecessary pressure on her joints. Just my thoughts.”

Although Oakley knows that she is allowed to rest and sleep in her mom’s bed, she still needs time to adjust. The Colorado dog prefers lying on the floor next to her mom’s bed.

When her mom works at the hospital, Oakley stays at Lindsay and Steph’s mom’s house. She enjoys playing with her two Golden Retrievers.

I’m overjoyed because Oakley turned her life around and found a forever human who adores her.
