She was lying there for days, begging for help.
Yet she was abandoned so remotely that nobody could hear her helpless cries. Sammi, a months-old doggo girl, was cruelly thrown into an abandoned reservoir, miles from her original home.
That day, she didn’t just lose home. She lost so much more – her smile, her puppy enthusiasm and, most of all, her faith in humans.
It is safe to say that Sammi was almost on the verge of giving up on everything until kind people finally showed her that not all hoomans are the same.
She Was Crying For Help
Thanks to a local resident who happened to hear her loud cries, Sammi was noticed for the first time in what seemed like forever!
He immediately contacted the Sidewalk Specials team that already saved one dog from that same reservoir months earlier. Upon receiving the call, they just couldn’t believe that someone would do the same thing again.
When they finally arrived, they saw Sammi all terrified and motionless. She was lying on a pile of garbage and was literally frozen. She looked like she had given up on everything after being unable to escape that deep prison-like hole.
“She was just, like, frozen. There’s no food down there. There’s no water down there, and it’s baking hot,” Rachael told The Dodo.
Rachael and her colleague immediately jumped into action to save this poor girl. The minute she ended up in her rescuer’s arms, Sammi felt better. It was as if she simply knew that from that moment on, everything would be different.
And, boi was she right!
Just weeks later, the most amazing news arrived at the Sidewalk Specials’ address regarding Sammi!
Sammi Has A Whole New Life Now
A wonderful family reached out to the rescue with one goal and one goal only – to provide Sammi with a forever home. The woman, Anneliza, and her family fell in love with this resilient girl right off the bat, and they just knew that they had to meet her.
In a heartwarming video, the rescue showcases Sammi’s inspiring journey to her new family, melting thousands of hearts all over the world.
Her new family couldn’t be more in love with her!
“Sammi doesn’t have a mean bone in her. She’s just an awesome, awesome dog. I would never ever trade her,” Anneliza said for The Dodo.
She’s blended into the new environment amazingly and even got a sibling – a doggo brother named Ash.
Even though the two have completely different personalities, Sammi and Ash are the absolute best friends in the world.
“Ash is tuned very different. Their personalities are completely different, which is awesome to have the kind of yin and yang dogs in our family. They were just the best friends from the get-go,” says Anneliza.
Once an abandoned girl struggling to survive, Sammi is now the happiest girl in the world!
