Dogs finding themselves in shelters is definitely no fault of their own. But sometimes, it’s really not the fault of their owners either.
Life changes, money problems, housing issues, and unexpected twists… All these problems force the inevitable goodbye, and it just breaks my heart.
Doyle, a four-year-old Poodle mix from California, knows the feeling of leaving a beloved home all too well. After a difficult housing situation, he found himself at the shelter, with a devastating note from his previous owners that broke many hearts.
They Truly Loved Him

As soon as Hillary Rosen, the founder of A Purposeful Rescue (APR), learned about Doyle’s situation, she rushed to the local Los Angeles shelter to help.
His family was unable to keep him, leaving a heartfelt note that instantly broke her heart.
“His owners left the absolute most gut wrenching note. We couldn’t stand the thought of him staying at the shelter one more hour so we drove and scooped this sweet little mushroom head right up,” APR shared on Instagram.
In the note, Doyle’s owner explained that he doesn’t like yelling, and has never been around other dogs and outside. The last part of the message was particularly heart-wrenching.
It said: “Please find him a good home. Please don’t put him down.”

Clearly, Doyle’s previous family cared deeply for their dog, but circumstances beyond their control had led them to surrender him.
Fortunately, he now had a whole new family of people inclined to help him find a fresh start.
“Welcome to APR, Doyle! We will try to figure out a way to let your previous guardians know that you are safe and will know nothing but love,” the California rescue added.

After the initial introduction, Doyle was given a much-needed grooming and neutering before settling into a foster home.
Kate and Adam, a couple from California, immediately welcomed this tiny Poodle mix into their family, where he started his journey toward healing.
Soon enough, Doyle was on the way to a new beginning. Despite his heartbreak, the little pup finally wagged his tail and showered everyone with smiles again.
He was safe at last.
Doyle’s New Beginning

To say that Doyle has flourished next to his new family would be an understatement.
Even though he hadn’t been around other dogs and people in the past, Doyle showed a remarkable transformation into a social butterfly. Now, he gets along with everyone, including other dogs and kids, and has no problem living in a big family.
“I weigh around 12 lbs and I get along with dogs but I could easily and happily fly solo! I am also good with kids and cats,” Doyle’s profile on the APR website reads.
Now, with a whole team behind him, it’s only a matter of time before Doyle settles into a forever home. Hopefully, he won’t need to wait long.
