An Unresponsive Dog In Texas Shelter Stared Into A Wall Until A Touch Of Love Changed Everything

Every shelter has animals who stand out, but not always for the same reasons. Some jump at the gate, some howl for attention, and some, like this dog, make no sound at all. It stayed low to the ground, unwilling to meet a single eye.

At first people thought he was only shy. With time, though, the silence felt heavier. No wag of the tail, no flick of recognition, nothing to suggest it cared about the world beyond its corner.

It became easy to assume that nothing could be done, that this was one more life slipping quietly away while others moved forward.

But then a simple act of love broke through the wall. And with that, the dog slowly began to come back.

There Is Still Hope

When rescuers from Austin Pets Alive! first took in Snoots at their shelter in Texas, they noticed that he was unresponsive right away.

The rescuers were concerned that they might be too late, but they did absolutely everything they could for him.

He was given the best care and the proper medication. The pup finally had a chance to relax without worrying about his next meal or whether he would survive to fight the next day.

Out of nowhere, Snoots was starting to recover, and the rescuers were becoming more optimistic. They learned that he was at least twelve years old and only weighed five pounds.

It was shocking information, but important because now they knew just what kind of a diet he needed to gain weight.

He Is Fighting For A New Chance

Regardless, Texas rescuers will put him on a proper diet so he can regain weight and this will hopefully help him find a foster home in the future.

Even though he is an old pup by now, there is still a good chance that he will recover completely and be ready for adoption.

Luis Sanchez, who works at the rescue, told The Dodo: “Despite everything, he’s a total sweetie pie and just wants to be held. He doesn’t need much. Still, APA! is prepared to offer him the world as long as he’s in it.

Not too long after they saved him, the rescuers also found him a hospice foster home where he will get to live in a warm home, surrounded by amazing people.

Hopefully, this stay will allow him to heal and get used to living in a house so that he can be adopted one day.

Despite how tragic his story was at the beginning, it showed us that Snoots was willing to do everything he could to fight for his new chance at life and that’s just inspiring.
