Every mother will do anything to keep her babies safe. She provides them with shelter, food, water, and above all, unconditional love.

A Rescue Mission After Two Long Weeks
Rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis began receiving calls about a stray mother dog roaming the streets. Each time they arrived, she would vanish without a trace.
It was as if she sensed they were following her, worried they might mean harm. Given that she was nursing, her extreme caution was no surprise.
For two long weeks, Donna and Natalie, members of the rescue team, never stopped searching. Finally, their persistence paid off.
“I finally spotted her, and just followed her down a sidewalk,” Donna told The Dodo. “But wasn’t an option to just pick her up and not find the puppies.”
Following quietly, Donna trailed the dog to the basement of an abandoned house. There, at the top of a crumbling staircase, she found the mother curled up with her tiny puppies.
The sight was delicate and heartbreaking. The mama was nursing, so Donna decided to wait. She spoke softly, hoping to reassure her.

The mama even enjoyed her first bath in who knows how long, and she looked delighted by the kindness she received.

“The puppies did end up going to foster, but mom went right into a home,” Donna confirmed with a smile.
