There is nothing that breaks my heart more than seeing a sad look on a dog’s face. So many times, they just look so broken, like nothing can fix them.
This can be caused by abandonment, isolation, abuse, you name it. Dogs don’t deserve this kind of treatment, and yet people put them through it all the time.
Sometimes, dogs who are dumped will try to wait for their owners to come back, but when reality sets in and they realize they have been abandoned, they get depressed.
When this pup from California was first abandoned after his owners moved away, he couldn’t understand what was happening to him. He looked in confusion as his owners left, and his reaction was heartbreaking.
He Saw Them Drive Away
It was probably one of the saddest moments for this dog. He had to watch his family leave their home forever, and he just didn’t know what to think. It was a mix of confusion and sadness.
He just looked at them as they drove away, but deep down, he believed that they would come back for him eventually.
The poor dog didn’t understand that he was actually abandoned. He just decided to wait. He believed that they would come back.
They had lived there for a long time, so he had no reason to doubt them. Eventually, new people moved into that house, and the dog was just an intrusion.
These people felt like they were under no obligation to care for him, so they tried to chase him away. As cruel as that was, it was nothing compared to what his owners did to him.
It didn’t matter that his owners were no longer in that house; he kept coming back. It was the only place he knew.
A Kind Neighbor
Then one day, a kind neighbor opened the door for him, but the pup was still a bit reserved. He couldn’t understand why this was happening.
He still believed that his family would come back, so he never moved far from the door. So, someone reached out to Suzette Hall and asked for help.
When she arrived, she wanted to do everything in her power to help the dog. She tried to figure out a way to take him to the shelter, but he was really skittish.
So, Hall placed a humane trap with a lot of food in hopes of drawing him inside it. The dog took the bait, and she was successful.
After he was inside the trap, she tried to soothe him because he still looked scared. He didn’t deserve any of this, but now he was getting a second chance.
Shortly after, he was taken to a shelter in California where he would get a bath, food, water and a roof over his head.
With time, he would likely even find a new family and hopefully someone who will treat the way he deserves. I wish all the best for this adorable dog.
