Georgia Senior Dog Facing Euthanasia Finds Hope Thanks To A Remarkable Turn Of Events

Tigger was a gentle senior pup who deserved to spend his final years surrounded by love, enjoying comfort and care.

Sadly, his owners didn’t see it that way.

One day, they surrendered him to a shelter in Atlanta, Georgia. At twelve years old, Tigger suddenly found himself abandoned. His world shrank to a narrow kennel, and he couldn’t understand why his family had left him.

He lay quietly on the floor, eyes heavy with sorrow. Never before had he felt such confusion and loneliness.

Added To The Euthanasia List

Because the Georgia shelter was overcrowded, Tigger was placed on the euthanasia list. Unaware of how little time he had left, he was only hours away from losing his chance at life.

When Erica Perets, founder of the nonprofit RescueMeATL, learned about Tigger and realized no one had expressed interest in him, she knew she had to act. She decided to visit him and share his story on social media, hoping it might reach someone willing to help.

The moment she saw Tigger, her heart broke. He was asleep in his kennel, and Perets almost couldn’t bring herself to wake him.

“So when I saw Tigger, I almost didn’t wake him, because his dreams had to be better than here,” she later wrote on Instagram.

When Tigger noticed her, he eagerly tried to stand, thrilled to have a visitor. But his frail legs gave out, and he slid helplessly across the kennel floor.

Perets was devastated. With all her heart, she wished he could know warmth, comfort, and peace instead of aching joints, slippery floors, and the cries of other shelter dogs.

“… All I could think about is that he deserved beds, yoga mats, and warm baths, instead of achey bones, slipper floors, and crying dogs,” she added.

Perets filmed Tigger walking slowly in an outdoor kennel, his tail still wagging in quiet determination. Despite everything, he showed that he was a fighter.

She ended her post with a heartfelt plea:

“If you can give 12-year-old Tigger his senior years he deserves please come quickly because he’s out of time. Deadline tomorrow Thursday 6/26 at 7 p.m.”

Her words struck a chord. Many people offered to help, moved by Tigger’s story. Among them was a kind-hearted person who stepped forward to give him a forever home.

The day Tigger met his new human, he was overjoyed. His sad eyes were replaced with happiness as he realized he was finally safe.

From being on the brink of losing everything, Tigger is now living out his golden years with the love and comfort he always deserved.
