Alabama Dog Faces Heartbreak As Family Returns Her To Shelter Just Days After Adoption

I’ve seen many shelter dogs switch to their “over the moon mode” the minute they step out of the kennel. But I’ve also seen the heartbreak written all over their faces the moment they go back into those confined spaces. Let me tell you right away: it’s beyond devastating!

Now imagine the level of heartache in all the dogs returned to shelters after once being adopted by their new families. One such case recently occurred in Alabama.

A sweet girl named Kennedy, who eagerly waited for her shot at happiness, faced a tear-jerking heartbreak when she was surrendered.

The reason? She simply “wasn’t a good fit.”

Joy Turns Into Heartbreak

Many hearts broke the day Martin Miller, a shelter volunteer from Alabama, posted a video of Kennedy after her arrival at The City of Mobile Animal Services for the second time.

Just a few days earlier, Kennedy had it all: a brand-new home, a new family, and a life full of possibilities. Then, all of a sudden, heartbreak struck. Kennedy wasn’t a good fit. Hence, the family decided to return her to the shelter.

“We are still looking for a home for this sweet girl, she was adopted a few days ago but unfortunately came back so we start again,” Martin shared on Facebook.

The emotional video shows Martin hugging Kennedy, reassuring her that she is safe and loved.

Due to her failed adoption, Kennedy was having a hard time. Staying inside a small kennel was already tough on this 35-pound girl. And now, she needed to go back inside.

“She is having a tough time in her kennel, being the smallest pup we have. She had puppies that all grew up and left, leaving her here alone,” the Alabama volunteer added in the post.

The Alabama shelter didn’t lose hope.

Martin and his friends made it their mission to spread Kennedy’s story on social media, emphasizing her sweet and loving nature.

Kennedy, a dog with a cloudy eye that “didn’t affect her one bit” and a calm, gentle temperament is the epitome of the perfect companion. She is low-key, eager to cuddle, and loves people.

Before long, another application came in, and this time, it was the right one!

The Final Update Brings Good News

A few days after Kennedy’s surrender, Martin Miller posted an update everyone has been waiting for: this little pup has finally found the right match!

“Remember our sweet girl Kennedy who we posted a week ago? Well yall shared her thousands of times and today she is FINALLY leaving The City of Mobile Animal Services with her amazing new mum,” he wrote.

The heartwarming video shows Kennedy meeting her new mom before leaving the shelter, this time for good!

After an unimaginably difficult turn of events, Kennedy has finally found the right person, and her caregivers couldn’t be more grateful.

From now on, her days will be filled with joy, adventures, pup cups, cuddles, and endless playtime…as she deserves!

Good luck, sweet Kennedy. And a happy life ahead!
