We’ve seen it all so far. From guiding lost hikers, saving babies, alerting families to danger, you name it… These furry heroes prove again and again that courage and loyalty are truly in their DNA.
In Florida, the pup named Eeyore recently joined that list of heroes, and it was definitely for a good reason. When his elderly grandma injured herself on a walk at night, Eeyore immediately sprang into action.
Spotting officers in the car, the dog ran ahead and led them straight to her side. Within days, his heroic act had left the entire internet in awe!
He Refused To Leave Her Side
When Deputy Devon Miller received a call about a missing woman in Destin, Florida, she urgently arrived at the home for more information.
The concerned husband told Deputy Miller that his wife had gone on a walk with their son’s dog, Eeyore. While she normally takes ten to fifteen minutes, this time, she was away for more than an hour.
“Sometimes heroes come with four legs and a wagging tail! The initial call came from a distraught husband concerned about his missing wife,” OCSO’s Facebook post reads.
Deputy Miller immediately sprang into action, scanning the area in her car. However, she didn’t expect her best lead to come from the dog himself.
Darkness had already fallen, and every minute counted when Eeyore appeared in front of the Deputy’s car.
At first, it looked like Eeyore might be lost, but it quickly became clear he wasn’t looking for help himself. He was there to save his grandma! After Deputy Miller asked him to show her where his human was, he ran ahead a few steps and made sure they were following.
“The deputy’s body cam video (edited to condense the search) shows how Eeyore’s love and instincts brought the elderly resident the help she needed,” the Sheriff’s Office added.
Finally, Eeyore led them down to a sidewalk, and that’s when officers saw the woman collapsed on the ground. She was conscious but injured.
There’s no doubt that without Eeyore’s guidance, it would be extremely difficult to locate the missing woman at this hour.
“Eeyore, You’re A Good Boi”
As Deputy Miller reported the find to the Office, Eeyore refused to back away. He loyally clung to the grandma, making sure she was safe.
After the woman heard that her dog had circled around the neighborhood until help arrived, she couldn’t hide her gratitude.
“Eeyore, you’re a good boi,” she can be heard saying on the video recorded by the Deputy’s body cam.
No doubt that Eeyore turned out to be the real hero of the story. He once again proved that love can guide even through the darkest night. And for his family, he’s much more than that: he’s a guardian and a companion.
While the internet celebrates his courage, one thing is for sure: not all heroes wear uniforms. Sometimes, they come with only a leash and a wagging tail!
