They wander city streets, searching for a home, and beg for food, yet they remain unseen. That pretty much sums up the life of stray dogs.
All they survive on is scraps they find in the trash, and sometimes small kindnesses. That’s why, most of the time, friendship between stray pups isn’t a choice. It’s survival, love, and protection rolled into one bond.
Recently, that bond was tested in the most devastating way in South Los Angeles, California. A sweet Doberman, later named Najee, was found lying beside his best friend, a Husky who had already passed away.
The sight of them together, as strangers and cars sped by, was heartbreaking.
Friends Until The End

Rescuers spotted Najee and his deceased Husky friend at a local bus stop. The scene was beyond devastating!
Najee was literally trying to use his body to protect his friend as if he could shield him from the harsh reality. In the meantime, cars rolled past, and people glanced but kept walking by.
For Najee, though, the whole world stopped.

In the video posted by All Dogs Los Angeles (ADLA), Najee could be seen refusing to move. Even when they put a leash around his neck, he pulled away, resisting every gentle tug.
“He was found lying at a bus stop, right beside his best friend… who had already passed. A loyal Doberman refusing to leave the side of a covered Husky 🐺, while people walked by like they weren’t even there,” ADLA shared on Instagram.
They tried again later. At first, Najee hesitated, and then, after a long pause and one last look at his friend, he finally entered the car.
“He kept pulling back—heartbroken, not ready to say goodbye. On the second try, he looked back at his best friend one last time… then finally chose to trust us,” the video description added.

At the rescue, the team learned that Najee was struggling with kidney problems. He was weak, dehydrated, and still heartbroken over his friend.
Still, for the first time in days, he curled up on a blanket and slept.
New Beginning

Even though Najee is still grieving, there’s no doubt that this loyal boy will blossom into a happy pup once his ideal family is found.
“This sweet boy is grieving deeply and needs a safe, quiet space to rest and heal 🏡. Ideally, someone with a garage or calm area who can stay with him—he panics when left alone and cries for comfort. He doesn’t want to be alone right now… he needs someone,” ADLA concluded.
For now, he’s resting, eating small meals, and taking meds for his kidneys, all while being reassured by his caregivers that everything will be fine.
Hopefully, his foster or adopter is just around the corner!
Good luck, Najee. You’re truly the epitome of a loyal friend.
