If there’s one thing people often underestimate about their dogs, it’s just how clever they really are.
I’ll admit I’ve been guilty of this myself, yet over the years, my pup has surprised me countless times with what he’s figured out.
For instance, he somehow understood what a bell was for and learned how to ring it, despite nobody ever teaching him.
Moments like that may seem small, but they’re powerful reminders that our furry companions are often much smarter than we give them credit for.
One dog in particular proved this beyond doubt. When his parents came to pick him up from daycare, he did something that left everyone speechless.
A Really Brilliant Dog
At PUPS Pet Club, with locations in both New York and Chicago, dogs who stay for daycare are usually kept in small enclosed play areas.
These are built with barriers and low walls to keep pups safe and prevent them from wandering. But as it turns out, not every pooch can be held back by such simple designs.
Charlie, a clever pup with a knack for problem-solving, showed everyone that some dogs are just too smart to be contained. The staff even shared the security footage that revealed just how inventive he really was.
When his parents arrived and began chatting with the daycare attendant, Charlie overheard them. Growing restless, he decided that he had waited long enough.
In his mind, the conversation was dragging on far too long, and he wanted to be with his family immediately.
So, he came up with a brilliant little plan to get himself out of the room he shared with the other dogs.
Charlie’s Genius Plan
Charlie noticed a folded stool leaning against the wall. Wasting no time, he nudged it into place, opened it up, climbed onto it, and used it as a launchpad to hop right over the barrier.
In seconds, he dashed into the front area where his parents were standing, greeting them with excitement.
Meanwhile, the other pups in the room looked on in astonishment. Their confused expressions said it all. Charlie had pulled off something none of them had thought of.
