Dachshund Thinks His New Florida Puppy Sibling Looks Like Him, Until He’s Shocked By What Happens Next

Dachshund Thinks His New Florida Puppy Sibling Looks Like Him, Until He’s Shocked By What Happens Next

A new puppy always brings joy, but for Dino the Dachshund, his excitement over meeting his new sibling might come with quite the surprise.

Dino, who lives happily with his owners, Aitor Fungairiño and Yaneth Ibrahim, instantly clicked with Luka, the puppy they recently brought home. But there’s one little detail Dino hasn’t caught on to yet — his “younger brother” is going to grow into a massive dog.

When Luka arrived, the couple couldn’t help but notice how much the two pups resembled each other. Both have the same warm tan and dark brown markings scattered across their coats, and right now, they stand at almost the exact same height.

The Cutest Matching Pair

At first glance, Dino saw Luka as the perfect little brother. But as the Instagram video posted by @dinoandluka cheekily suggests, there’s a major size twist coming their way.

As viewers watch the clip, one question lingers: Who’s going to break it to Dino that Luka, a Great Dane, will one day tip the scales at around 200 pounds?

For now, it seems the owners are letting Dino figure that out when the time comes. In the meantime, he’s enjoying every moment with his pint-sized “little” brother — unaware of the giant he’s destined to become.

From day one, Dino and Luka have been inseparable. They spend hours together every day, playing, cuddling, and following each other around. But their energetic play sessions may become a little tricky as Luka’s size quickly increases.

“They love each other, since they are the same size, they play a little rougher than we would like. Luka will grow to be a giant, and we wouldn’t want him to hurt Dino,” the couple shared in an interview.

Adjusting To A Future Size Gap

Despite the inevitable difference in size, Fungairiño and Ibrahim are confident that the two dogs will adapt with ease.

“I don’t think Dino will even notice. It will simply be the universal rule of the younger brother growing to be taller and bigger than the older brother,” they said.

While pairing a Dachshund with a Great Dane might seem like an unusual choice to some, for Fungairiño it was a dream come true.

“The Great Dane has been a dream dog for me for years now. Although I didn’t exactly plan on getting one just yet, the second we saw Luka and his resemblance to Dino, I knew I had to get him,” he explained.

From the very beginning, their bond has been strong. Even though Luka will one day tower over Dino, right now he’s the ideal little companion — perfectly matched in energy and curiosity.

As Luka continues to grow, the couple knows they’ll need to monitor playtime more closely to keep things safe for both pups. Still, they have no doubts that their relationship will remain just as close.

“It’s like the little brother who eventually grows up and becomes taller and stronger. But in their hearts, they’ll always be family,” Ibrahim said.

The future might bring a few humorous moments, and perhaps a shocked expression or two from Dino — as Luka transforms into the gentle giant he’s destined to be. But for now, the two are simply enjoying puppyhood side by side, blissfully unaware of the changes to come.

One thing is certain: no matter how big Luka gets, he’ll always be Dino’s little brother at heart.
