Arizona Woman Finds Coyote Sleeping On Her Patio Furniture, Then Realizes It’s Not A Coyote At All

We’ve all had fun watching Wile E. Coyote in our childhood, but the truth is, having coyotes near your living area isn’t that fun at all. If you’re a pet owner, you know what I’m talking about. The constant fear of your furry buddy becoming prey is just unbearable.

A few years ago, Meredith Warfel and her family from Arizona had their very first “coyote” experience. Or so they thought!

One night, a mysterious canine showed up in their yard looking exactly like a coyote under the moonlight. Little did they know that the unexpected visitor would soon turn out to be so much more!

What Is It?

The canine kept visiting Meredith’s yard for about a week. After she snapped the first photo of her and shared it on her social media, one response kept coming back: “It’s a coyote!” However, Meredith wasn’t convinced at all!

The canine looked so friendly, and the fact that she comfortably slept on their patio furniture just proved that this animal had nothing to do with this prairie runner.

And, she was right!

The canine wasn’t a coyote at all. She was a dog, probably abandoned on a hiking trail near the family’s house, looking for a place to settle.

“We don’t really know what her backstory is. My best guess is that somebody might have abandoned her in the hiking trail close to our house and she made her way to us,” Meredith says in the video.

The Arizona family didn’t want to lose time. The pup looked very malnourished and was in bad condition, so they took her to a local humane society. Meredith hoped the pup, later named Luna, had a family that would eventually claim her ownership.

Over the next three days, the entire family kept visiting Luna in the shelter, waiting for her original owners to show up.

That, sadly, never happened, but as it turned out, a dog distribution system didn’t fail this sweet dog. Before she knew it, she was adopted into Meredith’s home for good!

Luna, once again, showed up at the familiar doorstep, this time as a permanent family member.

The Sweetest Family Member

To say that Luna is the sweetest family member and the princess of her own home is probably an understatement! She’s as sweet as she can be, completely adapted to her new family.

Luna is all about cuddles, lounging on a couch, and showering her hoomans with love. And, the respectable companion she is, Luna’s relationship with her feline siblings and kids is absolutely adorable!

“She’s incredibly loyal and loves the kids. She’s so affectionate and sweet, and she just loves cuddles. If you sit down, she will find your lap in about two seconds and lay down in it,” Meredith adds.

It’s safe to say that this coyote-like pup enjoys her life to the fullest. She loves to play frisbee, run around the yard, swim in the pool, and soak up the sun on her floaties.

Although her real breed is still vague, her family is absolutely sure that Luna is one hundred percent perfect…and they couldn’t be more thankful for having her.
