California Coyote Keeps Visiting A Balcony Where Her Favorite Comfort Is Always Waiting

LouAnne Brickhouse had spent years making room in her heart for wildlife that needed a little help.

Living in Los Angeles, California, she understood that wild animals are strong and built to survive, yet even the most resilient creatures can sometimes need kindness.

Her thoughtful, calm approach to caring for animals had become an important part of her life. Then a trail camera near her home captured something she never expected.

What appeared on the recording marked the beginning of a remarkable connection that no one could have predicted.

A Surprising Visitor

At first, LouAnne thought a stray dog had wandered into her yard. But when she took a closer look, she realized it was actually a female coyote lingering outside her home.

Most people might have panicked or tried to scare the coyote away, but LouAnne did the opposite.

Recognizing that the coyote seemed exhausted, LouAnne decided to let her rest peacefully in the yard. She even gave the wild animal a name: Stevie.

Wanting to provide comfort, LouAnne did something unexpected. Even though Stevie was not a pet dog, she placed a few stuffed toys in the yard for her to enjoy.

Stevie’s reaction was immediate and heartwarming. She quickly became attached to the toys, treating them like treasured possessions.

LouAnne was deeply moved to see how much happiness the simple gesture brought to her.

Though Stevie didn’t stay in LouAnne’s yard permanently, she returned regularly to spend time with her beloved toys. Sometimes she would play with them; other times, she would simply rest her head on them and nap on the soft fabric.

What amazed LouAnne the most was Stevie’s respect for the toys.

“Unlike our dogs, she has never ripped the [stuffie], and she never takes it with her,” Brickhouse wrote on her Instagram profile. “It’s always somewhere to be found on the balcony.”

As the days passed, LouAnne continued to leave new toys for Stevie, who would greet each one with a wagging tail and excitement.

To share these touching moments, LouAnne began posting videos of Stevie and her stuffed companions online, quickly winning over hearts everywhere.

New Companionship

Soon, Stevie wasn’t the only coyote in LouAnne’s backyard. She brought along a companion, a male coyote whom LouAnne named Jack.

The two became inseparable, spending much of their time together. Yet, Stevie never abandoned her toys. She would carry them with her or keep them nearby while she played with Jack.

For LouAnne, the stuffed toys became more than just a gift. They symbolized the deeper truth that wild animals, too, have tender hearts.

While they live untamed lives, they also long to play, to love, and to experience joy. Thanks to LouAnne’s kindness, the world was able to witness a glimpse of that side of them.
