Sometimes the biggest surprises happen when you least expect them.
That’s precisely what Ricky and Colette, a kind-hearted couple from California, felt when they noticed a strange pile of fur in a parking lot.
Once they moved closer and saw that the mysterious pile was actually five abandoned rabbits, their hearts broke in pieces.
The helpless babies were curled up together, seeking comfort in each other.
There was no way for the shocked couple to know how long the bunnies had waited for help in the parking lot and they didn’t want the babies to spend another minute there. They collected them and brought them home.
The Rabbits Receive Help

Shortly afterward, the couple contacted The Rabbit Haven, a non-profit organization that rescues rabbits, urging them to help the babies.
The rescue team quickly responded and dashed to the family’s address to pick up the rabbits. The rescuers’ hearts became overwhelmed with sadness when they saw the sweet bunnies.
They could only imagine how confused and scared they felt after humans dumped them in the busy parking lot under the scorching sun.
“They were so afraid, they just stayed huddled together,” The Rabbit Haven wrote on Facebook.
The staff welcomed the bunnies. They couldn’t believe that someone had dumped them in such a heartless way.

“What a sad situation. How cruel to leave defenseless babies out in the dirt in the hot sun. Looks like they just pulled off the freeway and dumped them,” The Rabbit Haven added.
The staff members named the baby rabbits Reeses, Roy, Robin, and Reayah, and started pampering them with care and showering them with love.
Focusing On Future

Fortunately, the trauma that they went through didn’t leave a lasting impact on them.
The baby rabbits felt safe because they had humans who looked after them. As they absorbed all the love they received from the staff, the bunnies started showing their sweet dispositions.
The California rescue shared that the bunnies were fast learners and were already picking up litter box habits.
“They are all very sweet. They are quickly learning to use the litter box and are so happy to have a constant supply of food and love,” the rescue shared.

The staff is now looking for foster families who can welcome these baby bunnies into their homes, where they can continue thriving. They need humans who will give them the love they lacked all along.
We hope that the baby bunnies will soon find their forever families who will cherish them like they deserve.
