As someone who once proudly shared life with a dog, I think it’s safe to say that I may have overindulged my pup with extra love and treats more than once.
Okay, let’s be honest — it happened all the time, and he never complained. The downside? He got a little dramatic when it came to minor things.
Every time he felt under the weather, we’d shower him with food and gifts, and just like that, he’d perk up in our presence.
Jean and her husband, Kirby, found themselves in a surprisingly similar situation one day at their local park in North Carolina when something odd happened to their dog.
Trying to Figure Out the Mysterious Limp
When they took a closer look at their dog, Jaqweenie, they immediately noticed something was off. He was holding up one of his hind legs, and it started to tremble.
Jean quickly moved to check on him. They carefully inspected the leg, but couldn’t find anything visibly wrong. Still, they feared it might have been broken.
Without taking any chances, they rushed him to the emergency vet clinic. Unfortunately, it was packed, and they weren’t able to get in right away.
So, they changed course. They got back in the car and drove to another veterinary clinic nearby in North Carolina, where Jaqweenie received a full exam.
The vets began by putting a blood pressure cuff on his leg to make sure everything was normal. Then they examined his patella to rule out a dislocated kneecap.
But none of those were the problem. The clinic staff was left scratching their heads as they tried to figure out what was really going on.
A Tiny Cut Was Behind All the Fuss
Eventually, one of the vets spotted something incredibly small, a tiny cut on one of Jaqweenie’s paws. It was so minor that it had gone completely unnoticed until then.
It wasn’t even bleeding. The vet described it as something like a paper cut. Still, that tiny nick ended up costing the couple $150.
They wrapped it up with a special bandage right away. Jaqweenie still refused to walk on his own, so Jean and Kirby carried him out of the clinic.
Back home, they gave him plenty of snuggles and affection, which he clearly enjoyed from the comfort of their arms.
After soaking up enough cuddles from his loving parents, Jaqweenie finally worked up the energy to walk into the kitchen and help himself to a snack.
At that moment, they realized everything was going to be just fine and that he’d soon be back to his usual self.
They couldn’t help but laugh at the situation and decided to share it on Instagram. In their post, they wrote: “Bless his heart! I’m glad Jaqweenie has become so sheltered that the tiniest cut rocks his world.”
