When you’re new to dog ownership, leaving your dog unsupervised can sometimes lead to unexpected situations. Dogs are naturally curious, and if left alone, they may get into mischief, especially if they feel bored or frustrated.
This is especially true if they have a sibling who shares the same playful nature. Despite our best efforts, dogs can sometimes show us their mischievous side.
This was exactly the case for a pair of Texas owners, Brian and Shayla Baker. They left for work one morning thinking everything was fine, only to return later to discover that their dog, Maverick, was loose inside the house. What they found upon arriving home was both surprising and amusing.
A Slightly Messy Situation

It was just another ordinary morning for the Bakers as they headed out for work. However, they soon realized that they had forgotten to secure Maverick in his usual space.
Normally, they made sure he stayed in a confined area, but today, the door had been left open.
Given Maverick’s reputation as a bit of a troublemaker, the Bakers immediately feared the worst. But when Shayla came home, she was met with an unexpected sight.
Contrary to what she had imagined, the house wasn’t in complete chaos.

While the house wasn’t spotless, the damage was far less than Shayla had feared.
Maverick greeted her with excitement, and as she walked through the house, she noticed a few toys had been tossed around. It wasn’t ideal, but it was manageable.
However, she soon spotted something a bit odd: feathers scattered across the floor. It didn’t take long to trace the feathers back to their source.
What was more curious was the shampoo bottle that had somehow made its way to the top floor. It seemed that Maverick had taken it on one of his solo adventures.
Considering what could have happened, the situation was rather mild. Perhaps Maverick was issuing a gentle warning about what he might do if given the chance again.
The TikTok Community Reacts

After sharing the amusing video on TikTok, the Bakers received a range of reactions from viewers.
The video quickly went viral, though the comments were not exactly what the owners expected.
One commenter said, “And if you train your dog the correct way, it won’t destroy anything while you’re gone.”
While there’s truth to that, even well-trained dogs can occasionally cause a little chaos if left unsupervised for too long.
Another viewer wrote, “Crates are unnecessary… seems mostly in the US where it is practiced. Our dog never tried to cause trouble while free roaming when we were gone, even as a puppy.”

Given Maverick’s behavior that day, the Bakers may start rethinking how often they confine him. After all, this time he didn’t cause significant damage.
One more comment added: “Aww poor baby knew he was bad but had to take advantage of being free for the day.”
It’s hard to blame Maverick. This was his one chance, and he made the most of it. Despite his usual antics, he was surprisingly well-behaved.
