A construction site is no place for a dog. It’s always so busy and dangerous that anyone unequipped could end up harmed.
Still, accidents happen, and it’s still not certain how this one occurred.
How did he end up down there, stuck in such a position?
How did they not notice him before?
Was he there for too long?
How on Earth did that dog get trapped in a construction site, right between two boulders?
There was no time to question the circumstances.
That poor pup had to be rescued, ASAP!
A Rocky Start To A New Life
It was the strange cries that brought them to him. The whimpering, the sobbing, the agony in that tiny voice…
One of the construction workers on a site in Valley Center, San Diego, heard those cries and rushed to see what was going on.
Sure enough, it was a puppy, stuck terribly between two boulders on the site.
He knew there was nothing he could do without hurting the pup unintentionally. So, San Diego County Animal Services and firefighters were called to the rescue.
But, how do you retrieve that stuck puppy? Which approach do you take?
The rescuers tried lifting him up with a rope, but it soon proved to be a terrible decision, without any success.
Then, someone came up with the idea of soapy water that was supposed to act as a lube.
And, it worked!
After one long hour of trying to squeeze out the pup, the little one was finally free.
“He was affectionate and tired,” one of the rescuers said. “The officer let him ride in the cab of the truck, and he cuddled next to the officer’s lap on the way to the shelter.”
What a rocky start to a new life!
Back at the San Diego County Animal Services shelter, in Carlsbad, the rescued pup got a new name: Snack!
He was so sweet you could eat him up!
Snack turned out to be a healthy boy. This happy pupper got his paws on a furever family rather quickly, as soon as the vet cleared him.
That construction worker could’ve easily turned around and ignored the crying sounds. It wasn’t his job to rescue pups trapped between rocks. But, it was his duty as a human being to stop for a second and help.
He did not know how to save that pooch, but he knew which numbers to dial for help to arrive.
