Arizona Chihuahua Who Was Returned For Barking Finds The Family He Deserves

Sometimes dogs enter our lives in an unexpected way and end up becoming cherished family members whom we love deeply.

Buddy’s journey to his forever home was filled with twists and turns.

The seven-year-old Chihuahua was adopted by a family who returned him to the Humane Society in Arizona, saying that they didn’t want him anymore.

Buddy found himself in a shelter kennel, not knowing what the future would bring.

Fortunately, the pup’s life changed in ways he couldn’t even imagine.

A Chance That Changed Everything

Buddy’s first family brought him back to the shelter, saying he was “too much work” and “too chatty.” They complained that he was barking a lot, and they couldn’t handle it, so they chose to walk away.

Buddy believed that he had found his forever home, so he was confused when he found himself back at the shelter.

Shortly afterward, his future mom heard about him through her daughter.

“My daughter worked for the Humane Society in Arizona. And she told me about Buddy. I said, ‘Okay, I’ll be right over,’” she told GeoBeats Animals.

She rushed to pick him up from the shelter. The moment they met for the first time was pure magic.

“I remember when he saw me, he just pushed off them to get to me and I got him,” she recalled. As soon as he saw her, Buddy was sure that he had found his person.

A Dog Who Knew Exactly Who He Was

Once she took Buddy home, his mom realized that he wasn’t an ordinary dog.

He did not care for toys or typical dog habits.

“He doesn’t care about toys. He doesn’t think he’s a dog. So, he thinks he’s a human,” his mom explained. Buddy had opinions, and he was not shy about sharing them. He was very vocal from the very beginning.

If it was time for a walk and his mom was slow to move, Buddy would use his vocalizations as if to say, “Did you forget? We were supposed to go on a walk.”

His voice was his way of staying connected to his mom.

Buddy formed a deep bond with his family and didn’t like to be apart from them. He disliked seeing them packing their suitcases.

He would wait by the door until they returned, then let it all out.

“He’ll just start and rant for 10 or 15 minutes about, ‘How dare you leave me? Where were you? Why didn’t I go with you?’” his mom shared.

Buddy’s mom adores him and considers him special.

“I’ve had other dogs and I’ve loved them all, but Buddy’s one in a million. He’s not a normal dog. He just never was,” she added.

Buddy was never too much. He just needed someone who would understand his voice and give him a chance. His forever mom accepts him and loves him for who he is, and that is true love.
