It’s no surprise that a caring pet owner would do anything for their four-legged friend. Still, a few stories manage to strike a deeper chord, showing just how strong the bond between a dog and their person can be. And if any pair proves that, it’s Belly and Hannah!
Hannah originally brought the tiny Chihuahua with no front legs into her foster home, but it didn’t take long before she was totally smitten.
Their bond deepened even more when Hannah decided to surprise Belly with something unexpected—Lego wheels. Soon, Belly’s adjustment to her new wheels had the internet in tears.
From Rescue To A Loving Foster Home
Belly was only a few days old when she was saved from a hoarding case that involved multiple dogs. A rescue based in Florida, Rags to Riches Animal Rescue, took in all of them, including this special Chi without front legs.
“All the puppies came to us, and sweet Belly was one of them,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
Though she was originally meant to remain with the rescue, it wasn’t long before this sweet pup had a foster family. Hannah Sanders, a foster parent who worked with the Florida rescue, got in touch to say she’d love to take Belly in for a while.
She had no idea that “a while” would turn into forever.
Not long after, Hannah and Belly had completely bonded. The little dog adjusted beautifully to her foster home, which quickly led to her becoming what’s lovingly called a “foster fail.”
Calling them best friends doesn’t even cover it. They played, snuggled, and Belly felt so safe with her new mom that she even started sleeping in her bed.
There was just one issue—because of her condition, Belly couldn’t really move around on her own. That’s when Hannah came up with an idea that would soon go viral.
Lego Wheels Make Belly A Social Media Star
Hannah wanted so badly to see Belly take her first steps, so she decided to build her a custom set of wheels using Legos.
The setup wasn’t perfect, but the handmade creation quickly captured the attention of thousands on her official TikTok, including someone named Jeff. After seeing Belly’s story, he offered to make a pair of 3D-printed wheels just for her.
Eventually, Jeff made four more sets for Belly, and Hannah shared the progress in a heartfelt video.
“She has come so far. There were a few other sets of wheels through out this time that just didn’t work for her so I don’t include them. Hopefully we will have a brand new set next week,” Hannah stated in the video description.
With every new design, Belly became more self-assured, eventually learning how to “walk” and play all by herself.
The video blew up, and fans were moved by how far Belly had come.
“You loved her to the point of invention,” one person stated in the comment section.
Another person shared their emotional message for Belly and Hannah, saying: “Jokes on you; I planned on crying before bed anyway.”
While Belly still has some distance to go and more wheel styles to test, it’s clear she’ll eventually find the one that suits her best. Until then, this determined Chihuahua will keep soaking up life and enjoying every moment with her loving mom.
