Over the years, I’ve read countless heartbreaking stories about dogs being abandoned—but this recent incident left me more devastated than most. The cruelty captured in this case is something that will linger with me.
A shocking video,showing a woman dumping a helpless dog in a residential area of Surprise, Arizona surfaced on Facebook, leaving viewers outraged.
In the footage, a red SUV drives down a quiet cul-de-sac. As the driver turns the vehicle around, a woman opens the rear door and tosses a small black-and-white pup onto the street.
Before the SUV speeds off, she can be heard saying a chilling “bye-bye” to the confused and hurt animal.
A Witness Left Stunned
Despite being treated so cruelly, the heartbroken dog instinctively began chasing the car, hoping his person would change her mind and come back for him.
That same afternoon, on March 8, 2025, Joanna Buesen happened to be out walking her dog when she witnessed the gut-wrenching scene unfold before her eyes.
“I was angered. I was flabbergasted, shocked. Just so many emotions,” she told Arizona Family.
Watching the abandoned pup desperately try to follow the person who just left him behind, Buesen gently spoke to him, offering comfort.
As soon as he heard her kind voice, the frightened dog ran toward her, seeking solace and connection.
Buesen brought the dog home, gave him food, and made sure he felt safe. Later, animal control officers arrived to take him into their care.
Deeply disturbed by what she saw, Buesen condemned the woman’s actions, particularly the cruel farewell that was caught on camera.
“I think that they had no remorse for their actions, and I think that is the telltale that it is malicious intent. I understand things are hard and things can be tough in life, but you don’t have to be a soulless human. And that is just a soulless thing,” Buesen said.
Hoping For A Brighter Future
The incident was quickly reported to local authorities, who began investigating.
Fortunately, the SUV’s license plate was clearly visible in the video, providing law enforcement with valuable leads to follow.
By March 11, 2025, FOX 10 Phoenix confirmed that the individuals responsible had been identified.
A man and a woman—who were the dog’s owners—came forward and are now facing charges related to animal cruelty.
The dog was taken to a local Arizona shelter, where he will soon be made available for adoption.
With any luck, this sweet and resilient boy will soon find a new home filled with warmth and compassion—a place where he will finally be cherished the way he deserves.
