Oliver and Savannah once had everything they could ever want: a loving home and a mom who adored them. The two were inseparable and believed nothing could ever pull them apart.
Sadly, when their mom passed away, their world was shattered.
After losing the person they loved most, the 15-year-old pups found comfort in each other, leaning on their bond to get through the heartbreak.
They were taken in by Frosted Faces Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Ramona, California, that specializes in rescuing senior dogs.
Though shelter life was unfamiliar to them, Oliver and Savannah were grateful to at least still be together. Their biggest hope was to spend their golden years side by side.
Adjusting To Foster Life
It didn’t take long for the staff to notice how close Oliver and Savannah were. They adored cuddling and sticking by each other’s side.
The pair were placed in foster homes where they received the comfort and affection they needed. Once they felt safe, their sweet personalities began to shine, winning over both the staff and their foster families.
Oliver is described as affectionate and full of joy, acting much younger than his age. He especially enjoys car rides and even paddleboarding.
Currently, he is staying in a temporary foster through Frosted Faces’ “Frosted Fling” program, while Savannah has returned to her previous foster home. Both pups are thriving in their separate foster environments.
Oliver is a social boy who gets along well with people, cats, and other dogs.
Savannah’s foster mom speaks only praises of her. Despite being deaf and blind, she has adapted remarkably well. She quickly learned the layout of her home and the yard.
This gentle girl craves affection and loves to be held. She has an adorable way of asking for cuddles, nudging her foster mom’s leg with her nose to let her know she wants to be picked up. Savannah also enjoys curling up in bed with her foster mom at night.
Dreaming Of A Forever Family
Recently, a touching video of Oliver and Savannah was shared by @peakepups on TikTok, melting the hearts of viewers everywhere. In the clip, the two senior pups are peacefully sleeping beside one another.
The shelter’s wish is for them to be adopted together, but they know the most important thing is finding loving homes, even if it means they can’t stay side by side.
To help make adoption easier, the California shelter has waived the adoption fee for the pair and will cover all of their veterinary expenses for life.
Oliver and Savannah deserve to live out their final years surrounded by love and comfort. We can only hope that someone will see their story and give them the happy ending they so deeply deserve.
