Blind Dog Left Behind In Texas Is Now The Ultimate Water Ball Fetcher

It’s incredible how life can take a completely different turn with just one decision.

When Randi first saw Bunny’s photo, she instantly felt a connection. Only one decision later – Bunny, who was primarily a blind shelter dog in rural Texas, became a beloved family pet.

Things she had never experienced before, like the coziness of a loving home or cuddles from a dear owner, Bunny suddenly enjoyed in endless amounts. Even more impressively, this blind pup showed the world her true brilliance – by navigating through life like a full-time athlete!

From Homeless To Fetching Balls From The Ocean

It’s safe to say that Bunny’s life journey is a true inspiration!

This pup, suffering from an inherited developmental disease called Collie Eye Anomaly, was abandoned as a puppy at a local Texas shelter, with almost zero chance of ever being adopted again.

Then, thanks to a rescue organization, Bunny flew across the country and met Randi – her new mom. Before long, this blind furry girl felt what it was like to be loved. And, that’s when her real self started to surface.

The two visited the beach, enjoyed the ocean, had wonderful walks, and played together.

It didn’t take long for her mom to understand that Bunny navigated through life perfectly. She fetched the ball from the ground using her nose and her momma’s instruction – and soon enough, she excelled at it.

“She uses the wind, what’s under her feet, smells, sounds, there’s so many things she’s using to navigate. She can map something out and remember it in a couple rounds of doing something,” her mom told GeoBeats Animals.

Bunny’s fetching skills became so impeccable that she could even fetch the ball from the ocean.

Thanks to her incredible smell and hearing, Bunny’s impressive skills put her in advantageous positions compared to other dogs.

“Part of why Bunny loves playing fetch in the water is she knows she has the advantage over other dogs,” Randi explained in an Instagram post.

Mom’s Princess

The truth is, Bunny truly loves everything about her life. Since she was born blind, she’s learned that being different doesn’t define who you are. Bunny swims, runs, and meets new friends daily, all without worrying about her condition.

Aside from fetching the ball, the thing Bunny loves most is bike rides. Whenever riding a bike, her mom puts her in a little basket where she can smell and listen to different things at the perfect speed.

“Bunny loves riding the bike. Being blind makes sticking her head out the car window super scary, but riding the bike is the perfect speed to smell and listen to things,” Randi wrote on Instagram.

When people meet her, they find it hard to believe that she’s actually blind. Her resilience knows no limits!

Aside from her blindness and occasional seizures that her mom treats her for, Bunny’s life is all about exploring new things. She’s out there living the best life and soaking in all the beauty of the world – with her whole being. Just because she can!
