When this tiny pup was discovered on a roof, everyone was stunned at how he had gotten there.
Alone, frightened, and unable to get down, the puppy could only wait and hope someone would come to his aid. That’s when the kindness of nearby residents came into play.
The apartment complex residents acted immediately. One person called the Austin Animal Center, Texas, who responded without delay.
Helpless Puppy Trapped On A Roof
Staci Figueroa and Erica Cerza, two animal protection officers from the Texas rescue, arrived on the scene within minutes. They were shocked to see the little puppy perched on the roof, unsure how he had gotten there.
Apparently, he had wandered down the hallway of the complex and then climbed through the railing, ending up stranded above.
The rescuers noticed a small, open gap in the metal nearby that could have made the situation far more dangerous. Acting quickly was essential, so Staci and Erica didn’t spare time and acted fast.
With the assistance of a resident, they removed one of the pickets from the fence using a screwdriver, making the rescue much easier.
Once the fence was partially removed, Cerza reached out and lifted the puppy to safety.
“With the help of a resident and her handy dandy screwdriver, our officers were able to remove one of the pickets from the fence and get the little guy out. Once he was safe, the picket was replaced as if nothing had happened,” AAC wrote on Facebook.
Puppy Safely Rescued
After being rescued, the puppy rested calmly in Cerza’s arms, showing no signs of fear but rather a little confusion. Soon, he began playing with her hair, demonstrating that he was already feeling more comfortable.
The apartment complex management was asked to notify residents in case anyone had lost the puppy, but no one came forward.
He was safely transferred to the facility, where he was further taken care of and named – Wicket!
The pup was then safely transferred to the rescue facility and given the name Wicket. Within a few days, he began showing his playful, sweet personality.
Wicket quickly found a loving forever home.
“No one came forward, and “Wicket” was adopted to a new home last week,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
Now safe from decayed roofs and uncertainty, Wicket’s days are filled with love, play, and adventure: the life every puppy deserves.
