The life of a pup isn’t as easy as we would like to imagine it to be.
Of course, some pups have absolutely the best time living in their warm homes with their loving parents. But, unfortunately, this isn’t the case for every single one of them.
Countless furry friends are forced to live out their days in constant fear, not knowing if they will be able to find food or shelter. There are also pups who, even though they do have a home of their own, aren’t being treated the way they are supposed to.
Sweetie was one of those pups.
Rough Beginnings
After being cruelly abandoned by her previous owner when they moved away, Sweetie Pie has spent her days in three different rescues trying to find a place where she would finally fit in.
After ending up in a rescue which made her feel quite aggressive, Sweetie started to lose hope and began to shut down. Luckily, a Michigan-based rescue, Happy Paws Haven Animal Rescue, decided to step in.
The second they picked her up, the staff members noticed that she was feeling stressed and uncomfortable.
The very first thing they did to help her feel better was let her run around and shake off her emotions. And, she absolutely loved it!
“Everything was new to her: a TV, a band, a car. I think she was most afraid of meeting new people because she wasn’t familiar with that,” Gina told Cuddle Buddies.
It took Sweetie just a short week for her to completely blossom.
It’s Finally Happening
Spending quality time in a healthy environment with people who showered her with love and attention made Sweetie transform into a brand-new pup.
“Her favourite thing to do is definitely laying on her back and asking for scratches. Or if you stop, she’ll just give you a lick, a kiss in the face,” she added.
Apart from running around in the backyard, Sweetie also began trusting hoomans more. She loved her new hooman so much that Gina describes them as having a “mother-daughter bond.”
“Looking at this dog, it was hard to believe that she was once labeled aggressive,” Gina said.
Since she was able to come out of her shell and show her true personality, the only thing left to do was find her a forever home.
Being a special case, Sweetie is looking for somebody who is loving, patient, and understanding of where she is coming from. She will immediately fall head-over-heels for her person but she still might get frightened by a strange face.
Any person who decides to take this sweet girl into their loving home will definitely get a pet, a best friend, and the cutest being all in one!
