All stray dogs hope to find someone who will care for them and offer a place to call home.
Flora shared that same hope. The beautiful German Shepherd pup had been living on the streets, still dreaming of a family that would welcome her with open arms and love her without limits.
When Flora was finally taken off the streets and brought to Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, California, she believed she was one step closer to her dream coming true.
Sadly, things took a turn. Instead of finding the safety of a forever home, Flora ended up on a list for euthanasia.
Flora Is Placed On The Euthanasia List

Soon after arriving at the shelter, Flora captured the hearts of both the staff and the volunteers. She was sweet and easy to love.
Unfortunately, Stanislaus Animal Services Agency was dealing with overcrowding, and dogs there typically had just a month before being placed on the euthanasia list.
The staff felt relieved when a family expressed interest in Flora and made the commitment to adopt her. It meant the kind and loving pup wouldn’t have to remain at the shelter and face the threat of euthanasia.

Flora’s future family completed the adoption paperwork, and the next step was for her to be spayed.
But after her procedure, when it was time to head to her new home, no one came to take her.
The sweet dog waited, but the adopters never returned. They didn’t call or give any explanation to the shelter staff.
Everyone who had cared for Flora was crushed. It was hard to understand why the family disappeared without a word.
With no one to take her home, Flora was left to face the possibility of being euthanized.
Volunteers Step In To Try And Save Flora

A group called Advocate 4 Paws, made up of volunteers who share urgent cases of dogs at risk, decided to take action to save Flora.
They were heartbroken that her chance at adoption fell through and that her life was now in danger.
“… She doesn’t deserve to have her life be at risk and be failed by humans,” Advocate 4 Paws wrote on Instagram.
They uploaded a video on Instagram, explaining Flora’s heartbreaking story, hoping the post would gain attention and help her get another chance.

The group, based in California, believed Flora had so much to offer.
“This happy, cuddly sweetheart is ready to be your new furry best friend. She would make a great addition to a family with well-mannered kids and/or dogs,” Advocate 4 Paws added.
Flora’s story quickly spread and touched many hearts.
A rescue group noticed her and stepped in to remove her from the shelter, taking her under their care.

Very soon, Flora will begin the search again for a loving family to call her own.
Everyone who has followed her journey is wishing that her dream comes true and she finds the love she has always deserved.
