Human cruelty towards animals often knows no boundaries. I constantly wonder how anyone can do something to hurt these beautiful creatures, but here we are… another story of a beautiful dog that was once again the victim of human abuse.
Now known as Kei, a beautiful red-nose Pitbull, was found abandoned on the side of the road between two Italian cities, Trani and Barletta.
This was a very skinny and frightened puppy that was huddled next to a beat-up red suitcase. Thankfully, the man who found the puppy immediately notified the local nonprofit organization, Lega Del Cane Trani, which helps abandoned and abused animals.
According to the organization, the puppy was stuffed in a suitcase and dumped on the side of the highway to die.
Who knows how long he had been trapped in the suitcase, but judging by his extremely weak and exhausted body, it must have been some time.
I don’t even want to think about what he had to go through before this cruel act…
The Victim Of Human Cruelty
On their Facebook page, the Lega Del Cane Trani rescue organization tells the story of the most ignored Pitbull in Italy. Why they call him like that you’ll find out very soon.
Alongside the photo of this beautiful boy, they wrote: “Kei, who was previously called Daygo, was just a couple of months old when he entered a home where, as a ‘welcome’, they broke his tail.”
“When Kei was six months old, he was handed over to someone who loved him so much that they kept him tied up and relegated to the outside terrace to burn in the summer sun, to eat pasta from plastic bags, and to bathe in bleach.”
They wouldn’t even give him water to prevent him from getting dirty…
“Now reduced to almost nothing, Daygo was abandoned on the side of the highway, probably transported in that red suitcase to die away from everyone’s eyes. That was the day when Daygo died and Kei was reborn.”
When they found him, Kei was extremely fearful of humans… and how could he not be, seeing what kind of trauma he went through.
According to the organization, he suffered from various stomach issues and was extremely weak due to starvation, dehydration, and who knows what other torture that was inflicted on him.
He was a nearly mummified dog who could barely breathe and move. He couldn’t even stand up for weeks.
But, his rescuers and doctors were determined to nurse him back to health. He just needed to fight like never before. Everyone feared for his life and wondered if there was any strength left in his poor body to fight back.
The Return To Life
After many sleepless nights, suffering, and crying from everyone around him, thinking he wouldn’t make it, Kei showed that the strength and the will to live is there, stronger than ever.
Slowly but surely, Kei started to show signs of improvement.
After seven days of intensive therapy, he was able to stand up again, which was truly a miracle. It was still a long road to full recovery, but he was on the way.
It wasn’t easy for him to trust humans again, but with a lot of patience and love from everyone, he was slowly starting to see that not all people were bad.
He was now surrounded by kind and trustworthy people who would do anything for him.
Looking For A Furever Home
His story and the heartbreaking images of his discovery have traveled the world, but to this day, this beautiful, now healthy three-year-old, is still looking for his forever home.
All the strength, stubbornness, and will to live that Kei has shown to everyone deserve nothing but a happy ending. This little warrior deserves a loving home.
He is a playful, loving, and well-behaved boy who adores children.
Sadly, Kei has touched many hearts along his way, but he ended up, like Daygo, in indifference, anonymity, loneliness, and in the perennial wait for something to change.
Despite everything he went through, he is still a very sweet boy who dreams of nothing else but to find a happy and loving home.
Let’s not let this dog remain the most ignored Pitbull in Italy.
