For a lot of dogs, bath time can be a bit of a troublesome experience. Many of them might outright refuse it, or try their best to avoid it, despite the fact it’s necessary.
However, some really enjoy every second of it and you can just tell that it’s their favorite part of the day.
In this story, we will talk about a rescued pitbull who is really fond of her spa day in the shelter.
Poppy’s New Beginning
Poppy has been through a lot. When she was saved from the streets of North Carolina, she was taken into the foster care of Carter Cifelli, in Raleigh.
Cifelli told The Dodo: She was obviously very pregnant, exhausted, filthy. She had a yucky cough and was skinny and hungry. Wherever she had been prior, she clearly had not been well cared for.
The fact that she was pregnant and very relaxed around her made Cifelli quite surprised.
She continued by saying: Her tail would wag, and she loved being sweet-talked to. She was very tired since she was sick and pregnant, so she settled right in and just seemed so thankful to be somewhere clean and safe.
Only two days had passed since Poppy moved in, and she was giving birth. Cifelli was surprised it happened this fast, but it all went pretty smoothly.
Poppy had given birth to 7 puppies. The babies were all beautiful and healthy.
Time For A Spa Treatment
A few weeks had gone by and the puppies had grown a bit. It was time for them and their mom to have a nice bath.
Since she gave birth to the puppies shortly after going into foster care, there was little time for that, so Cifelli figured it could wait.
She had a feeling that Poppy would love the bath, so she decided to make it a special one.
Cifelli said: She was such a sweet dog and an amazing mom, and clearly had not been receiving basic care — much less being spoiled — before being rescued, so I wanted to do something a little extra special for this extra special girl. So, Poppy’s spa day was born!
It was a milk bath, sprinkled with flower petals. Cifelli made sure to scrub her very gently and Poppy enjoyed every second of it.
To make her even more comfortable, she was given a soft bathrobe and a paw massage.
Cifelli said: She thoroughly enjoyed every second of the attention, and her tail did not stop wagging.
Time For A Change
Even though Poppy and her puppies enjoyed their stay with Cifelli, it was time for them to go to their forever home with a new family.
Poppy was adopted first, and all her babies also found their forever homes pretty fast. Cifelli was delighted for them.
She said: All of her puppies were adopted, and I regularly get updates from several of them! They are all HUGE now and are beloved members of their families. It is the sweetest feeling in the world!
She also shared a TikTok video where you can see all the puppies and how fast they have grown.
Cifelli is really a big advocate in helping animals, especially mama dogs who need it the most. She loves spoiling them, giving them many treats, baths, and comfort that they couldn’t experience while living on the street in North Carolina.
She continued by saying: It’s my small way of appreciating them for all of the work they’ve completed in getting their puppies raised — and a celebration that it’s the last time they’ll have to raise a litter.
Honestly, it’s thanks to people like her that these dogs even get a chance to live their lives, and I, for one, am so happy to see that such kindness exists in this world.
It’s needless to say that we need more people like her because it’s the only way we can make a difference in the world.
