Kelsey spends her time visiting overcrowded shelters across California, doing everything she can to help get dogs out.

It is emotionally heavy work, but every so often, a special face makes time stand still.

On one of these visits, a stray dog named Moon caught her attention.

Moon had been forgotten, and sadly, nobody had ever come to look for her.

But as she sat in her kennel, she gave Kelsey a look that would change her life forever.

An Unforgettable Connection

Moon held her pose, just looking up at Kelsey with gentle blinks and her ears pinned back.

She didn’t bark or jump; she just wanted to be noticed.

“You just want me to pet you, huh?” Kelsey said to the sweet dog. “You waited that whole time.”

Kelsey knew right away that she had to share the dog’s story with The Dodo.

Even after she left the building, she couldn’t stop thinking about Moon.

Arriving Early

The connection was so strong that Kelsey knew she couldn’t leave Moon behind.

“The very next day, I was at the shelter two hours early because I just wanted her so badly,” Kelsey recalled.

When she finally walked up to the kennel, the excitement was palpable.

“Are you ready to go home? Are you ready?!” Kelsey asked the joyful pup.

Moon was finally getting the second chance she had been waiting for.

Once they were out of the shelter, Moon’s gratitude was immediately obvious.

She showered Kelsey with affection, proving just how happy she was to be saved.

In the car, the sweet dog wanted to be as close to her rescuer as possible.

“I looked in my backseat, and she was sleeping just so peacefully on this blanket that I had out for her,” Kelsey shared.

After so much stress, Moon just wanted to be able to breathe and feel loved.

A Perfect Foster Home

Kelsey was able to get Moon into a wonderful foster home to continue her journey.

Her new foster family was immediately smitten with the beautiful dog.

“I want somebody to look at me the way that she looks at me,” her foster noted.

It didn’t take long for Moon to settle into the comforts of a real home.

Best of all, she had some new furry siblings to show her the ropes.

Moon’s foster home came with a hilarious and adorable surprise.

The family already had two small dogs that looked exactly like Moon, just “copy-pasted and shrunk.”

Kelsey described the tiny lookalikes as two “little mini Moons.”

The trio quickly bonded, becoming an inseparable pack.

“It’s now the three of them,” Kelsey said. “They’re like the Three Amigos.”

Despite the size difference, Moon fits right in with her new best friends.

“I think Moon thinks she’s the exact same size as they are,” Kelsey joked.

The forgotten stray who waited patiently in a crowded shelter is now living a dream life.

Surrounded by a family who adores her and siblings who match her perfectly, Moon’s shelter days are far behind her.

“She’s the most loved girl now,” Kelsey shared. “She’s so happy.”
