Louisiana Rescuers Reach Two Stranded Pit Bulls As A Canal Turns More Dangerous

Louisiana Rescuers Reach Two Stranded Pit Bulls As A Canal Turns More Dangerous

Norman and Francis, two Pit Bulls, had been left stuck in a Louisiana canal with no way to climb out. Shivering and scared, they waited helplessly, hoping someone would see what was happening.

Everything shifted when a passerby noticed them and quickly called Zeus’ Rescues. With rain moving in fast and the water beginning to rise, the rescue team jumped into action, knowing there was no room to wait.

They hurried straight to the scene, focused on getting both dogs out before things grew even more dangerous for them.

When the team reached the scene, they were devastated to find two Pit Bulls stranded in the water, visibly frightened and unsure of their surroundings.

They spoke gently to the dogs, trying to ease their fear.

At first, Francis and Norman barked nervously, uncertain whether the people approaching them could be trusted. But once the rescuers stepped into the canal, the dogs began to understand that help had finally come.

Their anxious barking shifted to excited yelps. Their tails started wagging, and their eyes lit up with cautious hope. To encourage them to move forward, the team offered treats.

Francis was the first to respond. She stepped forward and accepted food directly from a rescuer’s hand.

That small gesture marked a turning point. She chose to trust them. She crossed the canal, and the team quickly secured her. Francis was finally safe.

After watching Francis reach safety, Norman gathered his courage. He leapt across the deepest section of the canal, and the rescuers caught him immediately.

With both dogs now out of danger, the team exhaled in relief.

They gently loaded the pair into the rescue van and transported them to Zeus’ Rescues in New Orleans. There, the dogs would begin their recovery from the ordeal they had just endured.

At the shelter, Francis and Norman were treated with warmth and affection as they recovered from their frightening experience.

They quickly showed how much they loved being around people and how affectionate they truly were.

The more time the staff spent with them, the more they grew attached to the pair.

“They love to be in the sunshine and will just lay out like a cat in the sun… They’re perfect angels,” Michelle, one of their rescuers, told The Dodo.

Soon, the two dogs were ready to begin the search for permanent homes.

Although Francis and Norman shared a strong bond, they were not considered a bonded pair. Each dog had the ability to thrive on their own, so they were listed for adoption individually.

Norman was the first to find a family. Francis, however, is still waiting for someone to choose her.

Everyone at the rescue hopes that the right person will come along soon, someone who will give her the loving home she’s always deserved. Until then, she remains in the care of the team that saved her, surrounded by people who believe in her future.
