South Carolina Dog’s Backyard Behavior Around Animals Becomes Too Funny To Ignore

Plenty of dog owners know what it is like to suddenly discover some strange little habit their pet has had all along, even after sharing a home with them for years. It happens more often than people think, and honestly, those odd surprises usually bring a mix of laughter, curiosity, and “how did I not notice this sooner?”

For example, I still remember realizing that my dog would race around the house five full times every single time he came back from outside, like it was an official part of his daily schedule.

But for one family in South Carolina, their dog’s behavior went way beyond a funny routine. They started noticing something genuinely unusual whenever their pup came across another animal.

A Surprising Stillness In The Face Of Wildlife

When Clyde first joined his new home, his family had no idea how entertaining his presence would be.

Clyde is a Vizsla, a breed famous for its excellent hunting instincts and natural ability to track. While some of his behaviors were to be expected, one stood out as completely unexpected.

Whenever Clyde spotted another animal in the yard, he would freeze in place. No barking, no chasing. Just total stillness.

Clyde’s mom, Caitlin, shared with The Dodo: “It started with butterflies in the yard and random things around the house, like toilet paper rolls. The instincts are so ingrained in him, he does it without training!”

This quirky habit started when Clyde was just a puppy, and over time, it became more precise. Given his breed’s history, his behavior made perfect sense.

Occasionally, Clyde would fixate so intensely on tiny creatures that it would take a moment for his family to figure out what had captured his attention.

Capturing The Magic Of Clyde’s Quirks

Clyde’s family enjoys documenting his unique behaviors and sharing them on his Instagram profile.

Caitlin mentioned, “My husband was laughing that this reel went so viral because, to us, Clyde standing stock still in the backyard for minutes at a time is so normal to us we barely even notice it!”

What was once a routine moment for the family soon became a viral sensation, as viewers were charmed by Clyde’s peculiar behavior.

His family describes his stillness as akin to “falling into a trance.” When Clyde locks onto an animal, he stays perfectly still, not moving an inch.

For his family, it’s more than just a funny quirk; it’s a great way to keep his mind engaged. Of course, Clyde still enjoys outdoor outings and energetic playtime with his humans just as much.

It’s amazing how a dog’s unique traits can bring so much joy. They truly are our most loyal and entertaining companions.
