The thrill of walking into the unknown is exactly what drives explorers forward. That pull toward adventure is what makes their trips so fascinating, unpredictable, and sometimes a little unnerving.
That same spark inspired a group of young explorers from Chicago, Illinois, to begin visiting abandoned places across the country.
Known online as LordExplores, they share their findings on social media, offering eerie glimpses inside forgotten buildings and the stories those places still seem to carry.
Eventually, their curiosity brought them to a vacant hospital just outside Chicago. At first, it seemed like another ordinary exploration, but before long, the outing turned into something far more disturbing.
Barking Echoes Through The Empty Halls
Not long after entering the building, the group began hearing strange noises reverberating through the corridors. As they followed the sound, it became clear: frantic barking.
The noise led them to a room with a glass window. Looking inside, they saw dogs dragging themselves on their hind legs, barking wildly as if frightened by something unseen.
Initially, the explorers believed the dogs had been abandoned. But upon closer inspection, they noticed something unusual: supplies were carefully arranged, and a chair was wedged against the door, clear evidence that someone had been staying there.
In a video posted to Instagram by @lordexplores, one of the explorers can be heard shouting, “Get the hell out,” before they both turned and rushed toward the exit.
The footage quickly went viral, sparking confusion and concern among viewers. Many struggled to understand what they had just seen.
“Could it be kidnapped dogs kept in there?” one user speculated. Another commented, “Obviously it’s not abandoned.”
A third user pleaded for more information: “What is the update with the dogs!!!!!”
A Chilling Update
Shortly afterward, @lordexplores uploaded a follow-up video to clarify the situation and share what they had uncovered.
Though initially shaken, the explorer later confirmed that the dogs seemed healthy and well looked after, with no visible signs of mistreatment.
However, while reviewing the footage, he noticed something unsettling. One of the dogs kept glancing away while barking, as if someone else was present in the room.
This eerie detail added another layer of mystery, leaving followers even more intrigued and uneasy.
Wanting to help, the explorer returned to the hospital a few days later with food and water for the dogs. But when he arrived, the room was empty. No dogs. No supplies. No indication anyone had ever been there.
And just like that, the trail vanished.
Whatever took place in that room remains unknown, and it may never be fully explained.
