The Tampa Bay adoption event was full of the kind of energy that makes everything feel possible.
Families filled the space, kids darted around laughing, and dogs threw themselves into the moment with wagging tails and eager paws. Paperwork kept changing hands as one pup after another found a home and headed out with a new family.
It was the sort of scene every shelter hopes for, busy, joyful, and full of wins.
But not every dog got to be part of that happy ending. Off to the side, away from all the noise, Mama Eve stayed in her little corner.
She was quiet the whole time, calm and still, not barking, not jumping, not putting on a big show to pull people in. She simply waited, soft and patient, hoping someone would stop long enough to really notice her.
No one did.
While the crowd kept moving and the celebrations carried on around her, Mama Eve was passed by again and again, fading into the background without so much as a second look.
The Lovable Mama Everyone Missed
The Mercy Full Project, the Florida rescue caring for Mama Eve, realized they needed to show the world why she mattered. They chose to share her story in a TikTok video, hoping it would help people understand what they were all missing.
“Mama Eve just got home from another adoption event without a single person even wanting to pet her,” the caption read.
It hurt the hearts of those who knew her best, watching her return home again and again without any interest. Mama Eve’s journey started the same way many others do in rescue work.
“She came to us super-pregnant and was living outside before,” said Isabelle Hucko from Mercy Full Project.
She entered a foster home where she finally had warmth, meals she could rely on, and a safe place to rest. Not long after her arrival, she delivered ten healthy puppies.
“She gave birth to 10 babies in our care once she went into her foster home,” Hucko explained. “She was a great mom. It’s clear that she missed them as they left her care. Seeing her part with the pups was so sad to see.”
Her puppies, full of life and sweetness, were adopted effortlessly into loving homes. Mama Eve, however, remained behind, still waiting for her chance.
Still Hoping For Someone To Choose Her
Months have passed, and event after event, Mama Eve has had no luck finding a family of her own.
What makes it even harder to understand is that she already has everything a family could want. She is gentle, loving, and peaceful around kids and other dogs.
Yet one thing continues to work against her. She is a pit bull mix.
“Mama Eve has struggled to get adopted mainly because nobody wants to adopt pit bulls due to the bad stereotype against them,” Hucko said.
Once her TikTok story spread, support poured in from all over the world, and people began cheering for her from afar. That wave of kindness keeps the rescue team energized and determined.
Since settling into her foster home, Mama Eve has truly come out of her shell. She loves running around outside, curling up to rest after long walks, and hanging out with other dogs. Even though she can be a little unsure when meeting new people, once she realizes she is safe, she becomes incredibly affectionate.
“We would love for her to go to a home with other dogs in it, with a fenced-in backyard, with a fence taller than 6 feet or higher,” Hucko shared. “One that is active and ready to give her all the love in the world.”
All Mama Eve wants is simple, a family who loves her just as deeply as she loves them, a place where she isn’t overlooked or left behind.
She continues to attend every adoption event with her tail gently wagging, believing each time that this might finally be the moment someone notices her.
One day, the right person will look past her breed and see who she really is, a loyal mama who cared for ten puppies and still has so much affection to offer. One day, she will be welcomed into the forever home she deserves.
