Stray dogs spend their days chasing the bare minimum, a little food, a place to rest, some small break from the hard edges of survival. But even more than that, they long for safety.

Duncan was one of those dogs. He was small, fragile, and visibly worn down by everything life had put him through. His body showed it plainly, with raw skin and painful scabs that spoke for him before he ever could.

When volunteers from Friends of Marshall Animals in Marshall, Texas, first spotted the pup, their hearts broke. His face carried deep sadness, almost as if he was silently begging for someone to rescue him.
The poor boy’s skin was inflamed and pink, clear evidence of mange. Rescuers carefully lifted him into the shelter and gave him the name Duncan. From that moment, their mission was to ease his suffering and offer him a chance at happiness.
Soon after, Duncan was placed with a foster family skilled in caring for dogs with mange. This became the turning point he so badly needed.
His fosters followed a thoughtful treatment plan, giving him medicated baths and showering him with affection. For the first time in his life, Duncan felt safe, cherished, and encouraged to fight through the pain.
Duncan’s Transformation
Within just a week, Duncan’s progress was incredible. His skin began to heal, and healthy patches appeared where painful sores had once been. His foster family was overjoyed to see him finally free from discomfort.
