Bella had always been the kind of dog people remembered for her cuddles and that bright, happy smile. She was an energetic little pup bursting with love and joy, right up until life suddenly took a much harder turn.
Instead of quickly finding the forever home she deserved, Bella ended up waiting at the shelter for more than 100 days. Those endless days and lonely nights inside a small kennel became the hardest part of her journey.
Before long, she was being unfairly described as the dog nobody wanted. For a cheerful pup like Bella, it was a reality she never could have seen coming.
Bella’s Journey To The Shelter

This three-year-old Bulldog mix was surrendered to the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when her owner had to give her up due to their landlord’s refusal to allow Bulldog breeds.
Even though Bella had to say goodbye to her favorite person, she never lost her sweet nature. She continued to shower everyone with affection, greeting each moment with love.
“All of the staff and volunteers love her,” the HSBC team wrote on their TikTok account.
But as the weeks turned into months, Bella’s situation did not improve. Instead of being quickly adopted, she spent more than 100 days behind the bars of her kennel.
The Struggle To Stay Positive

After 130 days in the shelter, Bella’s once-vibrant spirit began to fade. The dog who used to brighten the room with her wagging tail and joyful smile was now distant and withdrawn.
She stopped playing and no longer greeted her caregivers with enthusiasm. Instead, she lay on the floor, staring blankly, showing signs of depression.
“She’s starting to shut down… We’re not sure why adopters have passed her by, because Bella is so fantastic,” the HSBC team wrote.
Determined to help Bella, the team knew they had to try something different.
A Heartfelt Plea For Help

To grab attention, the shelter posted a note on Bella’s kennel, written from her perspective.
“I try to keep my spirits up, but after 130 days of this lonely cage, I’m starting to think no one will ever pick me. I don’t understand. I’m potty trained, well-behaved, love fetch, the kiddie pool, and I adore children and adults alike,” the note read.
Shortly after, the team recorded a video and posted it on their official TikTok account. Within hours, thousands of people responded with support and inquiries.
The Miracle Arrives

Less than 24 hours later, Bella’s miracle came in the form of a forever mom.
A woman from Delray Beach, Florida, saw the video and rushed to the shelter, eager to be the first to adopt Bella. The connection between them was immediate. From the moment they met, it was clear that they were meant to be together.

“It was instant. The bond was effortless and so natural,” the shelter staff said.
