I wish dog owners would stop and think about the dog’s well-being before they heartlessly dump them on the streets. These pups suddenly lose everything and they don’t understand why.
They search for a street corner that makes them feel safe again. Instead of enjoying the comfort of a home, abandoned dogs have to live with a broken heart and survive on morsels.
One dog in California felt miserable after his owners kicked him out of their lives and dumped him on the streets.
The pup must have hoped that one day they would come back for him, but sadly, they never did.
A Forgotten Pup’s Struggle
The doggo found comfort in a discarded mattress. It became the only place where he felt protected.
It wasn’t much, but it was soft and familiar enough to help him feel a little less scared.
“Someone had thrown out an old mattress, and this sweet boy made it his little home — the place where he slept, the place where he felt safe,” Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, based in Irvine, California, wrote on Facebook.
The pup stayed near the mattress for days. Neighbors noticed him and tried to help, but he kept his distance.
Although he desperately wanted someone to help, his fear held him back. He wasn’t sure if he could trust them.
A Desperate Rescue
When the trash company came through and took the dog’s mattress, he panicked. They took away his safe spot. Not knowing what else to do, the pup wandered the streets searching for it.
Hall rushed to help as soon as she heard the story.
When she reached the scene and saw the pup, her heart sank. She immediately set a trap.
The dog felt lost and exhausted. His tummy was empty, and he couldn’t resist the smell of delicious food. Although he was still frightened, he decided to take a chance and enter the crate.
“I got my trap out as fast as I could, set it, and oh my goodness — he was starving. He went in almost instantly,” she said.
When Hall approached him, she realized how weak the pup was.
He was in bad shape. His skin was raw and infected, and his coat was infested with fleas.
Starting A New Chapter
Despite everything, the doggo looked at his rescuer with a softness that showed he still wanted to trust. Hall fed him and reassured him that everything would be alright.
The pup began to relax. He finally felt safe again.
Thanks to Logan’s Legacy 29 and Hall’s action, this pup no longer has to curl up on an abandoned mattress to feel protected.
He is now warm and cared for. Hopefully, he will soon find a family who will cherish him and love him to the moon and back.
