Once a withdrawn dog trapped in a hoarding case, he gradually discovered the courage to embrace a life filled with comfort and care. Cramped cages and shadowy corners gave way to open yards, cozy beds, and joyful visits to dog parks.

From Fear To A Step Toward Trust
Tiki’s early days were filled with hardship. Rescued from a New York City hoarding situation alongside several other dogs, he carried emotional scars that made him timid and withdrawn.
He refused to let anyone near him, keeping his distance from staff and visitors.
Rather than remain in the shelter, Tiki was placed with foster caregiver Isabel Klee in New York, giving him a chance to decompress.
That decision changed everything. With each day, he grew slightly more at ease, though his fear lingered.
Isabel’s daily video updates of Tiki quickly won hearts online, including one viewer named Aubrie.
She decided to adopt Tiki and bring him into her family, ready to guide him through the challenges ahead.
The first week was tough. Tiki spent most of his time under the bed, barely eating or drinking, and would dart away whenever someone approached.

“I was looking forward to the behaviors that you take for granted in a dog. The jumping up on a bed, going for walks, all of these things are for most dogs table stakes. They all do it no matter what. But Tiki doing it felt like such a big deal,” Aubrie told GeoBeats Animals.
Gradually, Tiki’s playful, curious personality began to emerge. He loved discovering new corners of his home and venturing outdoors, showing the spark that had been buried under fear.
He also developed a deep attachment to Aubrie, following her everywhere and reveling in cuddles.
“I’ve just never had a dog like this who just wants to be glued to me. He follows me everywhere, I’ll catch him staring at me, looking at me. I am head over heels in love with him and I think the feeling is mutual,” says Aubrie.
Today, Tiki shares his home with two other dogs and thrives in his new environment.
