Couple’s New Tennessee Home Comes With An Unexpected Four-Legged Guest

Some moments in life stay with us forever. Graduating, getting married, holding a newborn for the first time; these milestones are unforgettable. Buying a new home is certainly one of those landmark experiences.

For Matt Garcia and his wife, settling into their Tennessee house was already thrilling, but an unexpected guest made their move-in day even more remarkable.

A Gentle Visitor At The Door

When the couple arrived at their new place, they anticipated exploring the rooms and imagining their life there. Instead, they found a visitor they hadn’t expected.

“I found something today, in our planter that kind of came as a little surprise,” this photographer from Lewisburg, Tennessee said on TikTok, referring to a ginger pup whom he found near the entrance of the house.

A Basset Hound had curled up in the planter, looking completely serene as though he had always belonged. Both dog lovers, Matt and his wife paused, unsure of what steps to take next.

Viewers quickly chimed in with advice.

“We found this little buddy in our planter, just kind of sleeping. He’s fine, but we don’t know what to do with him. We fed him, we gave him water. there’s no tag on that collar though… unfortunately.” Matt said.

“What should i do with this sweet ol dog????” he asked in the caption of the video he posted via his TikTok account @mattdotgarcia

Viewers quickly responded with suggestions.

“Get him scanned at a local vet for a microchip 🤷🏼‍♀️” one user wrote.

“Put a bed on that porch for that baby,” another added.

And the third quipped: “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW DOG AND HIS HOME.”

Matt soon replied to that last comment with a simple message: “Update posted!”

The Mystery Unfolds

A few days later, Matt returned with an update for his followers.

The little dog wasn’t lost or abandoned. Living just across the train tracks, a few miles from the new home, he had a family.

His name was Copper.

The revelation that Copper had a home reassured many fans, though some worried about the risks of him crossing the tracks.

One viewer offered a thoughtful tip: “If you don’t already, put a ring camera. That way you will know when he stops by and can give him treats.”

Matt noted that Copper hadn’t visited for several days, and he missed seeing the friendly pup. Luckily, Copper made a return shortly after.

In Matt’s most recent TikTok video, Copper’s joy at being seen again was clear. Viewers shared in the happiness, delighted by the reunion.

One person commented: “He needs a forever home and regular food and love. he needs YOU!”

Still, Matt had a ready answer: “So far, he seems to have himself a pretty good routine from what we can tell… he comes by and gets pets and loves + water & a little food- then he usually falls RIGHT to sleep.”

For Copper, it seemed the world was just as it should be.
