Food, a safe place to rest, and a bit of comfort are the basic things every dog deserves. Even though these needs are simple, many pups never receive them, which is both sad and unfair.
Dogs ask for very little, yet countless people fail to meet even those basic needs. Despite their long history beside us, abandoned and stray dogs remain a widespread issue.
Among those affected were two small terriers who had been ignored and then abandoned near a drain pipe. They relied only on each other until a compassionate rescuer stepped in to help.
Life Inside A Drain Pipe

Audray from Luck’s Rescue in Georgia first spotted the frightened pair while checking on animals in the area. She immediately tried to soothe them and figure out a safe way to get them out.
Because they were deep inside a drain pipe, it was difficult for her to reach them. The pups were terrified of being touched, which made the situation even more challenging.
She knew that rushing in could frighten them further, so she began by offering food to gain their trust.

The dogs were hungry enough to accept food from her hand, but they refused to come any closer. It became clear that she would need a careful approach to secure them without causing panic.
Since the dogs had already shown a small amount of trust, Audray placed a crate near the pipe and put food inside, hoping hunger would convince them to step in.
One of the pups hesitated at first, unsure whether it was safe, yet his appetite pushed him to investigate.
A Rescue That Went Better Than Expected

Eventually, the dog walked inside the crate, giving Audray the chance to close the door. She repeated the same method with the second terrier, completing the rescue much more easily than she expected.
With both dogs secured, Audray brought them to her home in Georgia so they could rest, eat, and feel safe while she searched for a foster placement.
Luckily, a foster stepped forward quickly. Even better, this person had plenty of experience caring for animals who had faced mistreatment or neglect.

Now named Mimi and Momo, the two pups are receiving the care they have long needed. They have been spayed, evaluated, and are almost ready to be listed for adoption.
Until a forever family finds them, they will continue to enjoy the warmth and stability of their foster home, where they can heal and learn to trust the world again.
