California Breeder’s Cruelty Exposed As Injured Mother Dog Is Left To Fend For Herself

Too often, people overlook that dogs are living beings with emotions, not objects to be used and discarded.

This cruel attitude is especially prevalent among careless breeders who view dogs only as tools for profit, forcing them to produce litter after litter. Once these dogs are no longer able to reproduce, they are callously left to survive on streets, in trash areas, or worse, with little thought for the suffering they face.

A particularly heartbreaking incident recently took place in Compton, California. Fortunately, rescuers were alerted just in time to intervene.

Scared And Lonely

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, received an urgent call from her colleague Arturo about a dog cruelly abandoned on one of Compton’s busiest streets.

Upon arrival, their worst fears were confirmed. The nursing mother was alone, with her puppies nowhere to be seen. It was apparent that she had likely been used by a breeder for her litter and discarded once she was no longer considered useful.

“On the busiest street in Compton. Hiding in bushes. Dumped after having her puppies.

She would stick her head out of the bushes,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.

Instead of caring for her pups, the mother crouched low in the bushes, trying to disappear from the world. Every sound and movement made her flinch, tense, and unsure of what was coming next.

Hall showed up with patience and gentle care.

She spoke softly, hoping her calm voice alone might reassure the frightened dog.

Suzette and Arturo stayed nearby, keeping watch as cars sped by. With her injured leg and her spot so close to the street, she was in real danger. Every passing moment made her situation more risky.

Thankfully, help came quickly.

Safe At Last

Suzette acted quickly, setting up a humane trap with food placed right beside the bush.

Within minutes, hunger won out over fear, and the mother stepped inside. Her need for nourishment pushed her to trust the moment.

“Arturo and I set my trap, and she was so hungry she didn’t hesitate one bit. She literally walked straight into it,” Hall recalled.

Finally, she was safe. After enduring such cruelty, this brave little mother was now under protection and care. Suzette brought her to a veterinary hospital to treat her injured leg and give her the care she had been missing.

“A beautiful lab, a beautiful girl was forever safe. We think her leg is broken but her spirit will be healed in no time,” Hall wrote.

Once she fully recovers, this gentle mother will be ready for adoption, with hopes of finding the loving, lifelong home she has always deserved.

This time, she’ll be treasured by people who value her for life, never left behind when she needs them most.
