For one dog, Onyx, a sweet and hopeful pup, the dream of a loving home seemed like it had come true, only for disappointment to strike again.

A Glimmer Of Hope Turned To Heartbreak
Onyx, a two-year-old dog, was surrendered to the Associated Humane Societies in Newark, New Jersey, by his previous owner.
The pain of being let down and abandoned was clear, but Onyx did not lose hope in finding a new family.
His chance came when a volunteer at the shelter offered to foster him.
Onyx embraced his new temporary home, enjoying daily walks, playtime, and his favorite moments cuddling up to his foster mom. It seemed like he was on the path to a brighter future.
A New Family And Another Setback
When a family in New Jersey expressed interest in adopting Onyx, the excitement was palpable. Onyx was thrilled to meet his potential family and bid farewell to his foster mom with a wagging tail.
However, the happiness was short-lived.
Just 72 hours later, Onyx was returned to the shelter. The adopters explained that they struggled to manage his energetic nature, and they could not provide the home he needed. Onyx found himself back in a small shelter kennel, confused and wondering why he was once again alone.
A New Beginning And A Happy Ending
While his foster mom could not take him back due to travel plans, she kept in contact with Onyx and visited him regularly, taking him on walks and providing comfort. She knew Onyx deserved a loving family and was determined to help him find one.
She shared Onyx’s story on her TikTok, hoping to spread the word and find him the perfect match.
“The absolute worst feeling ever and feeling there isn’t much we can do to help him besides help him find his home…” she wrote in the caption.
The TikTok community rallied around Onyx, touched by his confusion and longing for love. Fortunately, a compassionate family saw his story and decided to adopt him, giving him the second chance he deserved.
Now, Onyx has the family he always dreamed of, and he finally enjoys the happiness he had been hoping for all along.
