Lacey MacFarlane from North Carolina experiences this firsthand with her two Goldens, Cooper and Tucker. Life with the pair is full of fun, though occasionally peppered with surprises she could never anticipate.
One morning, Lacey discovered Cooper wearing a vet cone that belonged to Tucker. Initially, she assumed it was a simple mistake, but when the mix-up repeated itself, she realized something unusual was occurring.
The Curious Case Of The Vet Cone
Lacey’s first reaction was one of disbelief. “How in the world” did Cooper end up in Tucker’s cone? Could he have pulled it off his brother himself, or had she accidentally placed it on the wrong dog?
Though puzzled, she carried on with her day. Upon returning home, she was met with the same scene: Cooper again donned Tucker’s cone as if it were his own.
Determined to solve the mystery, she checked the pet cam for clues.
“Cooper’s adventures! Had to rewatch and see how he got the cone off his brothers head and onto his own… he did this twice,” Lacey wrote in the video.
The footage revealed the culprit around midnight. Tucker’s cone disappeared, and the recording showed Cooper actively tugging and playing with it until he slipped it off Tucker’s neck.
Cooper’s antics continued as he pawed, chewed, and pushed the cone around for his own amusement.
Within minutes, the playful Retriever maneuvered his own head through the opening, ending up wearing the cone himself. He initially pawed in frustration, but eventually accepted his new “appearance” as if it were normal.
Amused, Lacey shared the footage on TikTok, where it quickly went viral.
“Omg the fact that you have evidence of this is iconic,” one TikTok user wrote.
“I would have gaslit myself into thinking I put the cone on the wrong dog lol,” another joked.
“What did we do before cameras? This would have been an unsolvable mystery haha,” the third added.
Without the pet cam, Lacey admitted she probably never would have figured out the truth.
Mischievous Partners In Crime
Despite Cooper’s playful episode, he and Tucker remain inseparable. They share meals, naps, walks, and adventures together, side by side.
Episodes like the cone swap are occasional, yet they only add to the joy of watching two bonded siblings interact. Even when teasing each other, their connection and affection are always evident.
