93-Year-Old’s Smelly Socks Led California Rescue Team To His Missing Dog

It’s really horrible and depressing when you lose your dog. Things like this just happen in a flash. One second they are with you and in the next, they’re gone.

The panic then sets in. You are trying to stay calm and find the pup, but he’s nowhere to be seen. So, you call for help, but it’s not so simple.

By the time rescuers arrive, the dog could have wandered off really far. The only way to find him would be to get creative with the rescue or just wait.

When this ninety-three-year-old man, Norm Feigenbaum, from California lost his dog after grocery shopping, he called the rescuers shortly after.

After the man got out of the grocery store, he quickly realized that his dog was nowhere to be seen. He suspected that the dog had tried following him inside by jumping over a backyard wall.

However, that would mean that he was not going to be easy to find. Days had gone by without any sort of lead or a trail. The man was starting to really worry.

After reaching out to Dog Days Search and Rescue, they immediately coordinated a response and went to search for the dog.

They also put up posters in case somebody saw something. After about a week, a woman called in to tell the rescuers that she saw the dog in the nature preserve.

There was just one problem. This area was pretty dangerous. Coyotes roamed the area and there wasn’t much water there. The pup had nothing to drink.

The California rescuers immediately got there and set up a trap, but there was one twist. The old man’s socks were inside the trap and they did not smell good.

The Dog Went Into The Trap?

Surprisingly, the dog responded to this and went inside the trap almost immediately. The rescue was successful. Who would have thought?

I mean, it’s odd, but effective. The man noted that the smell that most people find horrible would be appealing to the dog only because it reminded him of his owner.

That was likely the reason he went inside the trap so quickly. He smelled his owner. The dog was taken to the veterinary clinic for treatment.

He had some minor cuts and bruises, but, when he was treated, the rescuers let him finally reunite with his owner.

It was a beautiful moment for the two of them, but the sweet dog was now finally back with his favorite human. This man will never let the dog out of his sight again.

It’s really beautiful to see such a friendship between the two of them. The story had a happy ending only because of their strong bond.
