Faithful Pup Left Behind In The Rain Still Believes His South Carolina Family Will Return

Why are dogs so loyal to people? It’s a question that has fascinated humans for centuries.

Some say it’s because we domesticated them long ago and formed an unbreakable bond. But part of their devotion also comes from their pack instincts — dogs are naturally wired to stay close to those they consider family.

That’s why it’s so heartbreaking when that loyalty is not returned. Few things are sadder than seeing a faithful dog left behind by the people he loves most.

Left Behind In The Rain

On a rainy afternoon in South Carolina, rescuer Angela Simmons received a call about a dog who had been abandoned in a trailer park.

Neighbors had noticed the poor pup lying on an old outdoor couch, waiting patiently for someone to come back. When no one did, they contacted Simmons for help.

When she arrived, she saw that the dog was friendly and eager for attention. His nose and paws were sore, likely from spending too many days outside in the damp weather.

Simmons brought him to a rescue organization called Auction For A Kaws, where the staff gave him a warm welcome and named him Murphy.

One of the shelter workers shared with The Dodo: “Once he entered foster care, he proved to be the biggest love bug.”

A New Beginning For Murphy

Once Murphy settled into his new environment, his personality began to shine. He enjoyed going for walks, riding in cars, and curling up happily in his bed after playtime.

He also loved lounging in the sun, soaking up the warmth he had missed during his rainy days outside.

The staff quickly fell in love with him and admired his gentle nature and eagerness to please.

One team member said, “He loves other dogs and is very intelligent. He is very eager to learn and has amazing manners.”

After plenty of care and affection, Murphy was finally ready to find a forever home.

To help him get adopted, the team shared a video on their Instagram page featuring Murphy’s playful personality and heartwarming story.

In the post, they wrote: “We are so thrilled to offer Murphy for adoption! Murphy is a 45-pound pit mix located in Greenville, South Carolina. He is approximately 3 1/2 years old, housetrained, very loving, walks great on a leash, and loves all people.”

By the time this story was shared, Murphy was likely already settling into a loving home of his own, the one where his loyalty and gentle spirit are finally being returned with the love he’s always deserved.
