They say that life surprises us in the most unexpected ways, and they’re most certainly right. Just when you think you have taken a nice, casual walk, or prepared to do some chores, something happens that changes your entire life upside down.
That’s exactly what happened to Andrea and William, a couple from California, when they set out for a morning hike.
The couple sat in the car, preparing for the ride, when an unexpected Doberman appeared at the window. Lonely, confused, but hauntingly adorable, the pup longed for attention, so the couple made the most heartwarming decision: to stay and help him.
A Surprise Encounter
William and Andrea, who captured the entire scene on video and later posted it on TikTok, couldn’t believe what they were seeing. The pup was dirty, covered in fleas, and clearly abandoned in the California neighborhood.
She gently leaped onto their window, as if begging for help.
“didn’t expect to find my dream dog this morning,” Andrea wrote in the post.
Lonely, but surprisingly social and friendly, the Doberman seemed to be abandoned.
“This sweet girl walked up to our car before our hike this morning. She was the sweetest, seems like she was abandoned here,” the video text reads.
The couple decided to wait, hoping her owners might appear. But as time passed, no one showed up, so the next best thing was to take the Doberman they named Millie, home.
“We gained her trust while waiting for someone to come for her. No one came so she came with us. We took her home and bought her a few things. She loved being on my lap. She loved car rides,” the text continued.
By the end of the day, the couple had cleaned her up, given her a meal, and bought her a few toys to play with.
Millie, on the other hand, warmed up to both Andrea and William immediately. She lounged on the couch, enjoyed a cuddle session, and fell asleep comfortably in her new foster home.
Millie Needs A Home
The next day, Andrea and William took Millie to the vet for a check-up and to have a microchip scanned. Sadly, no information about her owners was found.
In the meantime, the couple posted on social media, hoping to track down Millie’s owners, but with no success. No one came forward.
While Millie’s temporary family would love nothing more than to keep her, the California couple, who already owns four pets, aren’t in a position to care for her.
Still, they’ve made sure Millie has everything while they search for her forever home. While they wait, Millie continues to thrive under their care: enjoying car rides, long walks, beach visits, and endless cuddles and belly rubs.
Andrea and William are hopeful that Millie’s happy ending is just around the corner.
