Illinois Shelter Dog Got One Day Of Freedom And She Knew Exactly What To Do

Illinois Shelter Dog Got One Day Of Freedom And She Knew Exactly What To Do

Some dogs never get a break from the shelter. Sadly, this can be a major problem once the pup is adopted into a new home. The stress and anxiety of the shelter environment, along with the inability to decompress, can truly hit hard.

That’s why there’s something truly rewarding about watching these shelter beauties get a day of freedom. It’s like they suddenly remember what the world feels like. Plus, they get to do all the things they have been missing out on: playtime, walkies, pup cups, cuddle sessions, and many more.

Ursa, though, had another idea in mind. This dog from an Illinois shelter used her day off to experience what it’s like to take a cozy nap in a peaceful environment. Before long, her adorable video stole everyone’s hearts!

That Face Says It All

Sometimes, a good sleep is all you need, and Ursa is Exhibit A.

After getting her one day of freedom with @zeezo312, a TikTok user who posted Ursa’s video, this sweet doggo girl couldn’t have been happier. But instead of trying several activities, Ursa only picked one: a nap.

The viral video features Ursa, a round-bodied, joyful pup with big brown eyes and a smile that could melt stone, lounging on the couch so comfortably as if tomorrow doesn’t exist.

The video text reads: “POV: You give a shelter dog a break for a day at your house.”

Her face says literally everything: Ursa is finally at peace and no one can take it away.

Even though it wasn’t a big day full of adventure, Ursa used it for a quiet, warm retreat far from the shelter noise and stress. And it was exactly what she needed.

This is exactly the kind of day that many shelter dogs dream of. Sadly, only a few lucky ones ever get it, and Ursa was one of them.

Ursa Needs A Loving Home

Ursa is sweet, pawsitive, and loves being around people. But her journey hasn’t been an easy one.

She first arrived at the Heartland Animal Shelter in Illinois as a stray, only to be returned to her owner. Sadly, a few months later, she was brought back again, and hasn’t found her new home since.

But even so, Ursa refused to let her past dim her spirit. According to the shelter, she’s a happy-go-lucky girl who loves to socialize, play with other dogs, and just enjoy whatever life has to offer.

“Ursa did not let that get her down. We saw her light up the play yard during playgroup at CACC– she was so much fun and encouraged all the others to join her,” the Illinois shelter wrote on their official website.

Ursa has a bouncy personality, and is also as affectionate as she is playful

“Ursa has a bit of a bowling ball bod (no judgment!) but was surprisingly nimble and spry. She is hilarious, and she is all about good vibes. And once Ursa gets her zoomies out all she wants to do is cuddle,” Heartland Animal Shelter concluded.

If there’s one thing we can say with certainty, it’s that Ursa definitely knows how to live in the moment. Hopefully, it won’t be long before her ideal family finds her, and gives her a home she truly deserves.
