If they are fortunate enough, someone might come to rescue them, but that doesn’t always happen. In the case of this tiny pup from California, help came in the form of a kind woman.
She Couldn’t Survive On Her Own
Before rescuers came to pick up Polly, she was already tiny and malnourished. Starvation had made it difficult for her to do anything, since she had little strength left.
The homeless people around her used a broom to scare her away. Sometimes, they would even hit her with it, even though she did nothing to deserve it.
Luckily, a man named Arturo stepped in and notified Suzette Hall about this dog. Their mission from that moment was to rescue her.
They were horrified after seeing what condition she was in. The pup had been scavenging for scraps anywhere she could, but there wasn’t much she could find.
Arturo got close to her and because she was so hungry, it didn’t take long to gain her trust. The man took her, and then brought her to a veterinary clinic in California.
The man was shocked to learn that the pup was actually pregnant. She was so tiny, and malnourished that it was impossible to tell at the time when he saved her.
Good News For Polly
She will need medical help immediately if she is going to survive and give birth to her babies. Arturo and Hall will do everything in their power to help her regain strength until that day arrives.
Polly was already transferred into a shelter where they can look after her. She will likely be placed on a strict diet to gain back weight in a healthy way.
Since she has to give birth soon, there is little room for error. Knowing that, everyone is confident that she will pull through.
She will never be treated like a castaway again. She deserves a good home with people who care for her.
