Frankie, a five-week-old Pit Bull puppy, faced heartbreak early in life when his family chose to abandon him.
They placed the small pup inside a Pampers diaper box and left him on a property along the West Side in Buffalo, New York.
Peeking his head out from the cardboard shelter, Frankie scanned his surroundings with hopeful eyes.
He longed for someone kind to notice him and take him somewhere safe.
A Shop Owner Steps In

Robin, who owns a nearby shop, was shocked when she discovered the tiny puppy sitting outside her storefront.
She gently lifted him from the box and reassured him that help was coming.
Frankie, sensing her warmth and kindness, began to relax. He trusted her instantly.
Robin, a longtime supporter of West Side Cat Rescue, a shelter based in Buffalo, contacted them and asked if they could take Frankie in.
Jamie Mulligan, the shelter’s director, answered the call.
Jamie suspected that whoever left Frankie outside the store had hoped he would be found by someone who would care for him properly.

West Side Cat Rescue agreed to take Frankie and provide the care he needed. They chose not to send him to a traditional shelter, knowing how overcrowded they had become.
“Unfortunately, the local shelters here are full of pit bulls that no one wants to adopt, so Jamie knew she couldn’t bring him to an overcrowded shelter,” the representative from West Side Cat Rescue told The Dodo.
Frankie quickly captured the hearts of everyone at the rescue. All he wanted was to be held close. More than anything, he craved affection.

His new caregivers brought him to a veterinarian for a full checkup.
Once they gathered supplies, food, a leash, and a collar, Frankie was ready to move into a foster home.
The Foster Home That Became Forever

Jamie’s daughter, who regularly volunteers at the shelter, offered to foster the sweet little pup.
Frankie’s life changed the moment he entered her home. She showered him with love and cuddles, making sure he felt safe and cherished.
As time passed, the bond between them grew stronger.
When Jamie’s daughter mentioned wanting to change his name, her family realized she had become deeply attached.
She chose a new name for the puppy: Percy.
“It’s now looking like [Jamie’s] daughter has become attached. Percy is now a foster fail,” the representative added.
Percy felt secure and adored in his new home. With joy shining in his eyes, he soaked up every bit of love.
He had finally found the life he’d always dreamed of.
