Life on the streets is harsh for dogs who have been left behind. Food is scarce, shelter is uncertain, and fear lingers with every step. Strays often retreat into shadows, too wary to trust and too vulnerable to feel safe.
Tuesday was one of them. Found in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles, she spent her days trembling at the sight of people, hiding anywhere she could. Survival was her only focus, yet even that grew harder with time.
Her story did not end there. What follows reveals how compassion can bring light to the darkest places and help a broken spirit rediscover joy.
A Difficult Rescue

When Tuesday was first spotted in Los Angeles, her situation was heartbreaking. She had no safe place to turn, pressing her body into hidden corners as if to disappear.
Luckily, the rescuers at Starts With One Today heard about her and jumped in to help.

It took them three days to win her over and bring her to safety.
At the vet, it became clear how neglected Tuesday was.
Her coat was soaked in layers of motor oil, and her frail frame carried the weight of too many hard days. With each gentle touch, she took the first steps toward recovery, surrounded by people determined to help her heal.
Finding Her Family

Tuesday’s story reached Katie and Taylor through Stand Up For Pits.
“We came across her on Stand Up For Pits. Something about her made us turn in an application,” Katie told GeoBeats Animals.
Their application was accepted, and soon Tuesday left the shelter behind for a home that promised love and safety.

The adjustment was slow. At first, she flattened to the floor whenever she felt unsure, her body rigid with fear.
For weeks, she could not manage stairs, so Taylor carried her, showing her patience she had never known. Even the sound of rustling leaves made her flinch.
But small signs of trust began to appear. Tuesday followed her family from room to room, wagged her tail during walks, and started to embrace the joy of open spaces.
Today, she thrives in her new life. She loves exploring the woods and the beach, trotting happily with her tail held high.
“I’m really proud of her constantly,” Katie added, reflecting on the journey.

Tuesday’s transformation is a reminder of the healing power of compassion. From fear on the streets of Los Angeles to a home filled with love, she has shown that even the most broken spirits can learn to trust again.
We’re so happy for you, Tuesday! Enjoy your life to the fullest!
